Friends and I visited during restaurant week which isn't always the best time to get a good idea re a restaurant's cooking or service. Despite the crowds, we had a very nice meal with good service - we all had the short rib main plate which was excellent and we all took some home. Great, if pricey, wine by the... More

We greatly concluded our two-days stay in Washington with a dinner at Equinox. Very good food, very nice atmosphere and we could find a good table even without booking. You can really enjoy good food always keeping in mind that good food means high price in US, but it definitely deserve.

If you want cheap food, eat fast food, if you want VERY good food, this is the place. Our concierge said that this place was a "can't miss" restaurant. She was right. Very mellow and casual, considering the high level of the food. I started with the quail and had the lamb. My wife had the short ribs and sirloin.... More

Service was excellent and clearly a place you would be comfortable taking clients or celebrating a birthday which is why I was there. Expensive but with that air that you expect for the price. The food was very good. We also were accommodating some picky eaters. I liked the place but location while convenient in downtown, has others beating it... More

After seating me and my client for lunch our, server asked us if we would prefer still or sparkling water. My client immediately responded still, as I assumed he wanted to spare me the expense of paying for sparkling water. When the water was served in a reusable bottle, I had no reason to expect that they would be charging... More

I honestly do not understand the appeal of this place, especially considering the relative cost. With our sixth wedding anniversary approaching, my wife and I were looking forward to a nice dinner. We both work in downtown DC, dine out regularly, and she's vegetarian. So we selected Equinox. Every element was a disappointment and we will NOT be returning. The... More

Our family needed a memorable restaurant that would satisfy manly eaters, foodie home chefs, a Blood Diet follower, a vegan, and an ovo-lacto-vegetarian, all with a festive, holiday vibe. Thank you, Equinox, for achieving all that, with excellent service, a lovely ambience, a creative menu (though quinoa would not be my grain of choice for a risotto), and good food.... More

I was part of a group dining in the special private Wine Room for what was billed as a "Wine-Pairing Dinner." While the chef came in and described each dish as it was served, the food was pretty pedestrian (deep-fried artichoke hearts, deep-fried rice balls, tossed green salad with lardons, sliced brisket, ho-hum tiramisu), and there was absolutely no effort... We enjoyed a great meal here, with excellent service. Why 4 stars? The wine list is over priced, not much under $100 which I think is ridiculous. Also, I didn't love the artichoke - I thought it would be steamed, peel and eat, but it was deep fried - yuck! The risotto app is very yummy. The arugula & steak... More

A restaurant grown-ups will appreciate. The servers were solicitous and attentive without extraneous flourishes. It is possible to have a conversation with your tablemates without shouting. The menu is inventive and interesting without straining for innovation. Prices are fair for the quality delivered. Highly recommended.
