I don't know how he does it--but Todd Gray manages to turn a simple entree salad into a memorable lunch. My lunch consisted of perfectly dressed greens with perfect artichokes and topped with a succulent and superbly seasoned grilled Maryland Quail (hint: not the former VP's wife--who was Marilyn Quayle).

We dined here with a small group for a business dinner. The restaurant has a low key vibe, which is nice for DC. We dine out a lot worldwide and this was a very good meal. Appetizers were very good and the amuse bouche - smoked fish, was a hit at our table. Salads and main courses were exceptional. Several... More

If you are looking for good food, Todd Gray's done a great job. We came here to celebrate one of our anniverseries and were not blown away by the crowd on a Tuesday night but were definately blown away by the food. As its very close to the white house, there were lot of black coats dining here. If you... More

We dined on a Friday evening with friends while in DC for the weekend. We were expecting great things given the reviews we read, however, we weren't impressed with any of our entrees. The highlight of the evening's food offering was the chef's complementary spring rolls brought to the table soon after we sat down. They were good and left... More

The food here is good enough. Not really quite as good as the price (and putting your chef's name on the door) would suggest, but good enough. However, avoid sitting in the atrium when the restaurant is crowded, especially at a table for six. You won't be able to hear your companions above the din. For instance, if you are... More

Todd Gray and his wife have built Equinox into a local institution. I have probably eaten there a hundred times (a guess) over ten years. The food is always first rate, creative, elegant, and uses local produce and meat. The atrium room is very bright. I eat there for business or with friends. Todd himself is a terrific fellow, often... More

We were extremely disappointed in this restaurant. Overpriced for what was served. We had looked at the menu on line and were looking forward to our meal. We ate there on the Sunday evening after Valentines day. They had their limited Valentine menu. We chose the 3 course meal. Portion sizes were small at best. What food we had was... More

Went restaurant week and the wine glass was chipped, and they were giving out stickers on taxi receipts for free drinks at the bar. Food was ok but not what I would have expected.

On November 13, I posted a review "Disappointing Let Down for a Birthday". Since then I have been anxious to post a new review to provide an update (unfortunately TripAdvisor doesn't allow reviews of the same restaurant until one month after the original review). The restaurant's responsiveness and generosity were amazing! The day after my post the manager called me... More

Open Table dot com gave it high ratings so we booked Thanksgiving Dinner. The waiter never greeted us and was inattentitive. He didn't tell us about the Oyster Bar which came with our meal. The oyster bar and staff person were both exceptional; the Bloody Mary Slider to die for. The bread was also exceptional. Three of us each ordered... More
