When I made the reservation for my SO's 34th birthday I wanted it to be very special. He was a 20+ year vegan and he never asks for much so I wanted to really wow him with the best, most expensive vegan tasting menu I could find in the area. Despite notifying the restaurant ahead of time that it was... More

I stumbled into Equinox after a long day wandering around DC ( which is absolutely extraordinary!). The restaurant is very well situated and has a nice quiet ambience. As a single diner, I got the impression that the waitress was not 100% sure what to make of me and although the service was efficient, it was not particularly helpful or... More

We dined with another couple at Equinox last night. Nice place, good service. I had the duck breast, wife had the striploin, and our friends had the shrimp scallop dish which they liked. The duck was bland, sirloin was average. We were disappointed that the food didn't have more of the "wow" factor. Portions were small as well. Don't think... More

This was our third visit to Equinox, the previous two visits were at private wine dinners in the small private dining room (that has been used by the Obamas on occasion). While our table was very well located and comfortable, and the service provided by Moses was very attentive, the food was not that special. I loved the flavor of... More

Three of the four meal selections were delicious: scallops, salmon, pasta. The only one that was rather mediocre was the duck. Definitely try the sides - the mac and cheese and the swiss chard were excellent and it works well to have one side for two people to share. Servers were helpful and attentive.

I don't know how he does it--but Todd Gray manages to turn a simple entree salad into a memorable lunch. My lunch consisted of perfectly dressed greens with perfect artichokes and topped with a succulent and superbly seasoned grilled Maryland Quail (hint: not the former VP's wife--who was Marilyn Quayle).

We dined here with a small group for a business dinner. The restaurant has a low key vibe, which is nice for DC. We dine out a lot worldwide and this was a very good meal. Appetizers were very good and the amuse bouche - smoked fish, was a hit at our table. Salads and main courses were exceptional. Several... More

If you are looking for good food, Todd Gray's done a great job. We came here to celebrate one of our anniverseries and were not blown away by the crowd on a Tuesday night but were definately blown away by the food. As its very close to the white house, there were lot of black coats dining here. If you... More

We dined on a Friday evening with friends while in DC for the weekend. We were expecting great things given the reviews we read, however, we weren't impressed with any of our entrees. The highlight of the evening's food offering was the chef's complementary spring rolls brought to the table soon after we sat down. They were good and left... More

The food here is good enough. Not really quite as good as the price (and putting your chef's name on the door) would suggest, but good enough. However, avoid sitting in the atrium when the restaurant is crowded, especially at a table for six. You won't be able to hear your companions above the din. For instance, if you are... More
