One of our favorite restaurants

We have dinner at Cactus Cantina at least twice a month. The food is always good. My favorite is the beef fajitas. The portions are large and are a good value. The chips and tortillas are fresh, unlike most other restaurants. In nice weather, we like to sit outside on the patio which is very... read more

On Sunday afternoon, it seems every family with small children in the neighborhood is at Cactus Cantina. The restaurant has no sound buffering - wood floors, plaster walls, wood seats, bare windows - and the din was overwhelming. I know why the families come: large platters of dependable Tex-Mex food at a very reasonable price, quick service, friendly waitstaff. But... More

The east coast in general has lousy Mexican food of all varieties. This was very good for the east coast when I are with the family on a Friday night in August. It was only 5:30 or so but the place had empty tables. Yes it's loud but the bar scene, as us older folks put it was looking busy.... More

The host was quite rude - he was obviously very busy trying to seat tables, but he was not polite or welcoming at all. I met a friend, and she got a peach margarita that clearly did not have any tequila in it. Our server was friendly about it, and she was able to get another without additional charge. The... More

We were so excited to stumble across this place after a long day of sight seeing. We were able to get seated right away. Service was slow and not very good. Food was not good. I'm not a huge tex mex fan but my son and husband both are. We all got something different and everyone left disappointed.

Very big lunch menu from the vegan to meat eater. The only thing missing are the onions in the black beans!

They told us there would be a wait of at least 55 minutes BUT wouldn't start us on the 'waiting list' despite having a reservation as some of our party were to arrive in 25 minutes! Couldn't understand the logic of this but actually couldn't understand much as the noise inside was insanely loud and echoed round and round! Needless... More

This is a Tex-Mex restaurant with an extensive menu, but average food. The Margherita's are regrettable, but the service is excellent. It works as a place to go to for lots of people and families, but nothing special

Recommend reservations. Food was very good, a great wait staff. I had the veggie fajitas: lots and lots of veggies, really enough for two. The tortillas were fresh made. The place was crowded but the tables weren't squashed together, enough room between to walk. Overall a great family place.

This place has been their for years. The food is very good. The Prices are very Reasonable for DC It is where the locals go. It is where the Families Go for informal dining. The sidewalk café is popular. Some of the Best Waiters in DC want to work here because of the good tips and high table turnover rate.... More
