I'm not an expert on Tex-Mex, so I have little to compare with this neighborhood eatery. But I found the food bland and uninspiring. Complementary nachos and salsa were put on the table, helping to build up a thirst for a large margarita. But the salsa was watery and tasteless, and begged for more spice. I was not alone in... I had a cheese enchilada. The plate was hotter than the food. Everyone at my table loved the pinto beans and raved about them. I really wanted some but they had meat in them so I had the black beans instead. The black beans were very bland - like out of a can, no salt, no pepper - and I... More

We popped in as a group of five during a hot summer's day, and we're easily accomodated. Corn chips and salsa for the table were delicious and morish, and meant that we all struggled to finish our meals. Great value and great food. Would definitely return.

Great chips and salsa. Steak dinner is the best. Steak very tender and flavorful. Flautas very good. Nachos not so great. Hard to find parking in the area. We parked at the National Cathedral a couple blocks away. Very nice neighborhood.

Our family loves Cactus Cantina! We love sitting outside! My husband and I always order the frozen margaritas. The kids LOVE the steak fajitas. My favorite are the shrimp fajitas and my husband loves the Lomo Assado or Chile Relenos. Authentic food, good price, great atmosphere!

Lunch was a real hit for two hungry tourists. The salsa was fresh and the flour tortillas were homemade. The regular menu prices were higher than the specials so we chose two specials and were very pleased with the quality of the food.

I am not a big fan of mexican restaurants mainly because I haven't had good luck with any of them. I was talked into this place by a friend who swore by it. I was not disappointed to say the least. We had carne asada which was very well made and delicious, grilled just the way I asked. House made... More

Who would have thought we could find really good Mexican food in DC being from Texas ? Well we did. This place was suggested by my son a student at Georgetown. The restaurant was extremely clean and nice inside. The staff was very good and the food amazing !! I say you must find a parking place because the food... More

Long time local restaurant , Cactus Cantina, has maintained its reputation for reliable tex mex. The menu is huge so the biggest issue will be deciding what to order. Portions are generous and there are complementary home made tortilla chips and salsa. There are many outdoor tables which is an added bonus in nice weather. Service is usually quick .... More
