Delicious Food and Bunnies!

I come from Rhode Island where the best Italian restaurants live. So, I'm fussy. I've tried Italian in different states, and have never been able to compare them with our home-town restaurants. Nowhere beats Federal Hill. Filomena's rates VERY close, probably the closest yet. I read the... read more

The food is all homemade inn portions that can be shared. The red sauce and homemade pasta is "lite " and not heavy like other Italian resturants. Recommend trying the side of Italian sausage and side of meatballs and cheese ravioli. Both are amazing. Finish off with any desert. Key word is share.

A must if you visit Washington DC, but be sure to get reservations ahead of time! Since Easter is a week away, the restaurant was fully decorated and I mean DECORATED. 100s of bunnies and eggs - stuffed bunnies larger than myself, bunny statues, bunnies in cars, bunnies on bicycles, you name it! Unbelieveable! Then there was the service. Although... More

2nd time here; 1st for dinner. Came in with a large group (you MUST reserve; very popular venue). Service and food were wonderful. Fresh pastas made by the "Italian Mama's" in the front window are fresh and flavorful. The favorite for our group were the softball-sized arancini we had for appetizers. A must-go at least 4 times a year just... More

Heard about this place from friends. Told me if I was disappointed they would buy. I paid! Place was busy. Make reservations for sure. Start with the wine munu. Pretty good and reasonably priced The apps are delicious. We all ordered one of the specials for dinner. Save room for desert. I think we met every person who worked there.... More

I will admit partiality to Filomena Ristorante in part to the lovely romantic dates with my husband I have had there. With our first visit having been a result of Restaurant Week several years ago, we have never once regretted that opportunity. Literally everything on the menu is superb. You will either need to go on a crash diet before... More

I was visiting DC looking at colleges with my daughter. We ate at this place twice while here because it was so good. They make the gnocchi fresh. It's a "must" if you visit this restaurant. I also had the ravioli, rice balls, and the fried mozzarella. The desert was delicious also. Try the tres leches. I am an Italian... More

Warm, cozy, great service and fantastic food...everything you hope for in a restaurant. I travel to DC once a year and I always make it a point to bring my colleagues to Filomena for a delicious meal. The patron's attire will be across the board - from jeans and sweaters to suits and dresses - and the kitschy decorations for... More

I have eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious. The pasta is always cooked perfectly and the meal portions are huge. Wait staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. Definitely make a reservation before showing up because it is not very big. Each time I have visited it has been... More

Our group went for a late dinner to this Icon in Georgetown. Great Italian food! The service is impeccable and the staff are all extremely competent and approachable. I had a free range chicken that was to die for! Others had pasta of course and I didn't hear any complaints. This is my third visit to the wonderful fixture. Get... More
