We went with a party of 7 on a Wednesday evening, 7:30. The restaurant was pretty crowded, and we had to scream at each other to be heard. It was incredibly noisy, but as the night wore on, it got less so. The food was good as was the service. We were somewhat charmed by the woman in the window... More

Simply one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. The service is attentive but not pretentious, the menu is extensive and imaginative, the food is delish and the portions huge. The complimentary Sambuca & Amaretto was an unusual and unique surprise. Can't wait to return!

If you like Italian food, then stay away. The pasta was apparently fresh, but the variation in temperature across my fungi canaloni dish and lack f heat in the middle strongly suggests this was nuked. I'm not a food snob in general, but I am when paying good money for it. I can't complain about the portion size. It would... More

We went during Restaurant Week. I ordered off the pre-fixe menu and had the lobster cardinale which was delicious! It was a bit pricey (over $30) for pasta and had just enough lobster but the cardinal sauce was amazingly rich and creamy. I didn't order an appetizer and shared my husband's rice balls - which were out of this world!... More

Our son had tried it first (praised Filomena's), then made a reservation for when we visited him in Georgetown! Outstanding experience. (Unusually) unanimous (amongst our family members) to ALL think it superb! Our son shared details of his first dining experience there: late one night - following an intense day, when a member of Filomena management offered him a post-dinner... More

My grandfather came to the US from Italy and worked as a chef. I am very critical of Italian food and find it difficult to have my expectations met. I ordered the ravioli and meatballs and felt like I was at a family dinner again at my grandparents. I judge all Italian restaurants by their meatballs and this was pure... More

My wife and I went to Filomena for the first time, to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Although we felt vastly overdressed (compared to the shorts-clad tourists who wandered in from Georgetown for late lunch or early dinner), the more formal decor and the tuxedo-clad servers made us feel welcome. My wife loved her appetizer -- arancini (Italian arborio rice... More

This was by far our favorite restaurant in DC. When you walk in the front door you can smell the aroma of true Italian Mamas at work in the kitchen. In the window you can watch Filomena rolling out pasta and pressing ravioli squares. Everything is fresh and amazing. Highly recommend the eggplant Parmesan , Manicotti and ravioli. The service... I was ate here the other night for dinner and had a great time. The food was excellent and the service was great. We all ordered something different and enjoyed what we ordered. I will go back to Filomena.

The only reason I'm not giving Filomenas a 5 rating is because one of our party of 3 didn't like his meal. He had the lasagne and found it too cheesy. We went for lunch and had limited time so couldn't make the most of the menu. I had a fantastic meal (beef tortellini special I think) and would definitely... More
