Fabulous patio and service and fine food.

We were a party of 6 and after some cajoling we were able to get adequate seating on the charming and delightful patio. We had a super wonderful waiter (Jaime) who provided excellent advice on the wine and took superb care of us all evening. I think everyone enjoyed their food. I can report that... read more

The place is fantastic. They have a cozy patio in the back, with great atmosphere. The food is delicious and inventive (try the chilled avocado soup). Attentive, but not overbearing service.

I came to this place twice for their brunch (should have come more than twice and believe me I will). And both times their egg benedict batted a home run! Both times we sit outside and I think it's the courtyard atmosphere outside that brings serene while enjoying their brunch! I'm coming back again! Soon! Con: you need to reserve... More

I had such fond memories of this place from my last trip to DC three years ago, that I thought to myself, I must must must return there for 'the best pancakes' I'd ever had in my life, and to try the donuts reviewers rave about that were only available on weekends. So I returned, all the way from Australia,... More

We ate dinner here recently. The food was fine, nothing spectacular but good. The place has atmosphere but our table was squashed into a corner right by the kitchen and the restaurant was very loud. The worst part for me was the service. Despite being the table nearest to the kitchen, service was spotty; go figure. Our waiter was unsmiling,... More

I was shocked how many people recommended this restaurant, and how disappointing the experience turned out for us. This place was so unimpressive, service was awful, and the waiter was so cold and unfriendly. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. I appreciated the historical background the restaurant has, but would never return. It felt like a tourist trap... More

The welcome was warm and the bar team was on point with service and attention. Visiting DC and keeping a tight business schedule was brought to life with this little treat of a place. Will certainly be back on subsequent trips.

We dined in the courtyard in the rear of the building which was wonderful. The food was good but nothing special, a little high-priced for what we had. I was only disappointed as most of the reviews I'd read about the food made it seem to be better than it turned out to be. The staff was very accommodating and... More

Had dinner here last night. Small trio of friends. Started with drinks. I had the Queen Bee. Yum. Had the pate platter to share. Really nice. Split 2 entrees. Had the crab cake and the steak. Delish. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were mixed with whipping cream. The steak was wonderful. The crab cake was served over cannilini beans and... More

Recently had dinner at this charming restaurant while staying in Washington. The atmosphere in this restaurant is remarkable. The decor is intimate 40's moderately informal with a view of a small brick enclosed patio outside. There is a real Washington vibe with multiple congress types with staffers having dinner. The noise level is quite remarkable (fairly loud). The cocktails were... More
