The service here was very friendly. In addition, the atmosphere is quintessentially lovely. Nice place to unwind after a long day.

This is unusual, but this is a time where the ratings don't closely match the experience. My expectations were for donuts which are there specialty. However, this is a weekend thing only and I'm sure someone mentions it in a review. Since I was staying next door at the Topaz I wanted to check them out. It has a beautiful... More

The Tabard Inn is a DC hidden gem. Here you can enjoy a local moment while eating a delish brunch. I would skip the drinks -- nothing special -- and focus on the apps and mains. The flank steak was prepared to perfection and the omelet was beyond words. Both eaters LOVED the potatoes that came as a side --... More

From the first step into the restaurant I appreciated the total approach being so very honest and genuine. The hostess was the first inviting smile and courteous welcome at the door. The level of professionalism and appreciation for our being there was well received. The setting was simple and relaxing, very old English/European neighborhood comfort. The food was flavorful and... The ambiance in the restaurant was great. I loved my catfish tacos. The restaurant was tucked away from the hustle and bustle but it was packed at lunch. Parking was an issue but that is the case in most places in downtown DC. If I had one complaint it would be that it was a little loud because there were... More

Went here for drinks after dinner elsewhere. Very easy music, a upright bass and acoustic guitar. Drinks were not too expensive. They have a bar area that leads into the restaurant, but the music is in the front with couches and seats for people to hang out. Mostly seated people, but there is some room to stand, not much. Haven't... More

As a DC resident, I've often recommended the Tabard Inn to visitors as a fun, cozy, well-located, NOT-cookie cutter place to stay when visiting DC. My only hesitation in making that recommendation in the past was the cranky (and not a fun kind of cranky) reception staff and the up-and-down and generally declining quality of the restaurant over the years.... Thoroughly enjoyed the morning buzz in this quirky spot just off Dupont Circle. You can't go wrong with the poached eggs, fried oysters and grits, cooked to perfection. Recommend reservations, plan to return.

The big attraction of the Tabard Inn is really good food in a funky environment. Located in a large, old row house, the restaurant has room after room of tables in which diners sit in cozy corners as the consume lovely and interesting menu items. Starters or entrees can be ordered as main meal.

The setting is fun with several small rooms for waiting, evening drinks, and small get-togethers. The eight of us had brunch with pumpkin pancakes, oysters and cheese grits, and eggs Benedict. The food was very good, and the service excellent.
