Situated across from the White House, Old Ebbitt Grill is a fascinating place to dine. Very busy, with lots of chatter, but a very good wait staff. We had the specials, a whole lobster for my husband and for me a lobster pot pie which was not filled with creamy sauce, but nice chunks of lobster and vegetables in a... More

I had made a reservation for 7 for dinner prior to coming into town. A few in our group headed over early for a few drinks, and this will be the only somewhat negative the drinks were expensive. We arrived and were seated almost immediately in the back of one section. The noise level was fine, however I do think... More

Very busy restaurant. We were seated quickly as we had reservations. Quite a loud place but it gave atmosphere. Our server was great and had a good memory for the order as she didn't write it down but it all came out spot on. All in a all a good place for dinner.

Have been to the Oyster Riot--truly an amazing experience, and a must for any oyster lover. For the first--and perhaps only--time in your life, you will actually get to eat all the oysters you want. Have lunched & dined here many times & love the booths, menu selection, good service and festive, but still with a kind of old world... More

Established, popular, high end grill on 15th street in DC, a 9 iron from the White House. When you're playing in this league there are no excuses for not getting the details right. The food was terrific, no doubt about it. Excellent char on the meat, nicely seasoned, good temperature, well balanced service. Nice ambience, friendly staff, a reasonable wait... More

This place far exceeds the standards for the price range in which it falls. Amazing ever changing menu, great staff and awesome oysters! Can't beat the location as well. I have been here a half dozen times and will go back when in need of a great brunch/lunch/dinner near the White House. They also serve DC Brau, which is the... More

If you are in the area, this is a known place to meet. However, after meeting anyone here, you should adjourn to some of the other nearby spots. It doesn't matter if it's for drinks, munchies, brunch, lunch, or dinner. They are open pretty much all the time that you are likely to be there; but the food and service... More

We visited this restaurant for dinner, without a reservation, they were busy, and said we would have a 30 minute wait which was fine, however we had just paid for a drink at the bar, and were advised that the table was ready. Lovely restaurant, and atmosphere, and great location just near the White House. We had the clam chowder... More

While many great restaurants with creative menus have been popping up all over DC, I somehow end up at Old Ebbitt several times throughout the year. From the early 2000's til now, their menu has only slightly changed.Tourists seem to enjoy this place as it is reasonably priced, the food is pretty good but most likely because it's good for...
