I was hoping to dine at another DC restaurant, but bad weather made us stick close to our hotel. I figured the Old Ebbitt Grill would be filled with tourists, and it was. But we were pleasantly surprised that the food was delicious! I had cod with a clementine vinaigrette and spring peas; the cod was moist, the peas crisp,... More

Having missed out dinner reservation time by 30 minutes, we were still hopeful about dining at Old Ebbitt Grill. When we arrived however we were given the bad news...an hour and a half wait. With 3 young kids in tow this wasn't really an option, though we were told that we could sit at the bar if we could find... More

Had a lovely dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill this month during my visit - we entertained 10+ clients for dinner. It was an 'okay' meal - the crab cakes were definitely the highlight (when they say 95% lump crab, they mean it). The service was great, and prices were reasonable, but otherwise everything seemed very mainstream and 'touristy'.

The Old Ebbitt is a Washington institution, been around from he time when oysters were a major food staple in the area. It has its origins in pre-Civil War DC, was family owned for more than a century (and has become part of the Clyde's group). But it retains an old fashioned ambience with a lively bar scene, and oysters... More

The Old Ebbitt Grill is part of a larger local chain many of which I enjoy. While the location is great, compared to other local restaurants in the area, it's too noisy and the food is OK but not great. I think you can do better with a real local.

Very crowded but got our table of 7 sat in about 40 mins. Good atmosphere, great location adjacent to White House.

This is a must go place while in DC to check it off the list. It is always very crowded so don't even think about going without reservations. It is a good place to catch a sighting of some Washington insiders and the food and service are quite good. Its a block from the White House.

Old Ebbitt Grill is the quintessential DC restaurant. It is a stone's throw from the White House and is housed in a beautiful old building. There are 4 separate bar areas. If you go for happy hour on Monday thru Thursday, they offer 1/2 price raw bar! The oysters are worth the trip! I also love the crab dip. Definitely... More

Rehearsal dinner in private room with excellent bar and food service. Friendly attentive staff who took notice of food allergies some of the guests had and did substitutes of certain food items. Nice congenial atmosphere with round table seating. Excellent place for family and friends to celebrate the upcoming nuptials!
