Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include “Best Place for Great Seafood” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and “Best Crab Cakes” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)

I went here for lunch with a couple of my coworkers and we all found it to be just ok. It was a little pricey but I guess standard for the area. I had the crab cake sandwich and like the reviews said, it was quite good. The fries and slaw were ok. They had no mustard in the place... More

Thanks to our Polish server with Canadian ties. She was lovely. Our family of 5 shared appies and enjoyed soups and appies as main meals. My husband and I shared the crusted salmon with mushroom raviolis. Nicely split in the kitchen so we didn't have to. A good choice from our Grand Hyatt location

My boyfriend and I visit DC a lot, for Redskins and Capital games. He took me here for the first time maybe a year or two ago, and now every time we are in DC we eat at Legal Sea Foods!! I get the Almond Crusted Salmon with capers, mushroom ravioli and spinach. LOVE it!! Best salmon I think I've... More

We stopped in to rest our feet and have a "snack" after visiting several museums. My husband had an Old Fashioned and 4 oysters. I had a glass of white something (it was good) and a bowl of crab bisque. All were excellent. Be prepared to pay for it though. I thought it was worth every penny, but it's not... More

While walking on the back streets in DC, we came across this place. I have been to several of them in Boston but never in DC. We checked and there was no waiting time, what is not common at a Thursday evening. The food we ordered was well prepared and did not take long to be served. The waiter was... More

Stopped in for a quick bite as I'm very familiar with these restaurants that began in Boston as a fish market. The staff is pleasant, efficient and well-trained. I had a Caesar salad with mainly hearts of romaine and fresh shredded parmesan with a creamy Caesar dressing. I also had the fried oysters appetizer which were artfully served on the... More

Went for lunch, across street from Verizon center . Had shrimp linguini, seafood casserole, and crab cakes. All entrees were really good. The fresh bread is fabulous. Service is good and nice atmosphere. The area is fun and lots going on. The galleria metro station is across the street

Legal seafood was the best meal we had on our 3 week vacation across the country. The food was amazing. My husband ordered the oysters on the half shell and said they were the best oysters he's ever had. I ordered the shrimp and scallops. They were cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. We live in on the west... More

My husband and 3 daughters recently ate at Legal Seafoods while vacationing in DC. It is a favorite of ours from our other travels, and this Washington location didn't disappoint. We like good food on vacation that is healthy and reasonable. The kids meals are great with a great variety of healthy options as well as general kid fare - even... More
