Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include “Best Place for Great Seafood” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and “Best Crab Cakes” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)

I can remember going to Legal Sea Foods when visiting Boston and DC years ago as a child with family. I was so happy to go and have it still be just as good as I remembered. I've had many crab cakes over the years and this was by far the best. Huge chunks of crab and just enough spices... More

That bathroom has almost made me stop going to the restaurant. The black fixtures make me wonder about the cleanliness and, frankly, I don't want to watch men going in and out of their stalls while I'm waiting my turn. When I used to watch 'Ally McBeal,' I thought the unisex was cool and progressive. Here it's just gross. I'm... More

After a long day exploring "The Mall" and "The Capitol Building" my girlfriend and I were famished so were relieved to stumble across "Legal Seafood" on 7th. We are huge fans of the seafood chain after discovering them in Boston. We had high hopes and we weren't disappointed. The food as usual was top quality, we both ordered the salmon.... More

Happened upon Legal and enjoyed it. Had the snapper, crab stuffed potato and broccoli and cheese. I'll start with my dislikes..they are few. I didn't like the cheese on the broccoli. It was a white cheese and kind of bland. I would suggest asking they hold the cheese. They used the same cheese on the crabmeat stuffed potato. It was... More

I am a lunchtime regular at the Chinatown Legal Seafoods because I work nearby, and I appreciate the reliability of the quality and service at this Legal. As at others I've patronized, in the Washington metro area and in Boston, the menu items include a lot of tasty and healthy dishes. As at others, you can see that cleanliness is... More

My family and I visited Washington DC over the 2014-2015 New Year’s holiday. On New Year’s Eve, we had arranged to see a performance at the Kennedy Center. In light of that and the holiday, we wanted to go someplace special for dinner, and we had all opted for seafood. Pouring over reviews and Google Maps, I finally arrived at... More

This was our first visit to Legal Sea Food and was impressed with their food, presentation and quality. Service was excellent and knowledgable about the items on the menu. Wine list was adequate and not expensive.

A recent lunch at Legal Sea Foods was a disappointment. Food was not especially well prepared and served warm, as if it had been sitting too long in the kitchen. Price was a bit steep for unattentive service and the manager was generally clueless when problems were brought to his attention. This Legal Sea Foods does not stand up very... More

We have enjoyed going to Legal Seafood when we travel to Washington DC and Boston. Our most recent visit was no exception. Great service by William B whose timing was excellent. Nice chat with Juan, the Manager, who took time to make us feel welcome and share how they use social media and Trip Advisor to manage feedback better than... More

One of our guests was a Boston native so she is very picky about her Legal Sea Food and she was very happy with our meal. We had a great server, all of our food was very good and it was everything you expect from a Legal Sea Food restaurant. Oysters were great and I loved the clam chowder. I... More
