Small restaurant in the basement with lots of character. Small family-run place. Ordered the chicken wings, sesame chicken, steamed vegetables and ginger fried shredded beef. All were good - great sauces, well-seasoned and good portions. Only criticism was that staff was attentive but not overly pleasant.

We walked around Chinatown and came across this restaurant. Looked a little dodgy, but we were coaxed inside by one of the owners. Soooooo glad we did. The food was delicious! Service was fantastic! Definitely a do-over.

We walked around Chinatown and stumbled onto this place and were very glad we did. We had pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, spring roll, chicken lo mein and chicken and sweet corn soup. All the food was excellent and was served very quickly. It is a small place at the bottom of some stairs but well worth the... More

Meal was mostly rice. Everyone has their favorite Chinese takeout, and I have a few, but this place doesn't even come close. We had 5 different entrees at our table, and we all felt the same way - decent taste, but not much main course. The beef and broccoli only had a few pieces of beef. The sesame chicken didn't... More

Liked it so much I came back the next day. I had the General Though chicken. It was not overly battered and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. Serving size when added to a bowl of hot and sour soup was just right. Let's face it, DC is an expensive place to eat and this place was very reasonable and... More

Hole in the ground, but so good. I was skeptical at first when some guy was trying to lure us to a tiny restaurant in the bottom of this building. We took the menu he gave us and kept walking. After walking all of China Town and not finding anything that looked great to eat I researched Jackey Cafe. It... More

Jackey Cafe is like several of the Chinese Restaurants in the small "Chinatown" in downtown Washington DC. I have been there a couple times. I first visited it purely on a random choice. The man at the door assured me it was authentic Chinese food. The restaurant seems relatively clean and my order was taken quickly. They have several of... More

The restaurant was small and cheap, you get what you pay for but I will say they made every effort to accommodate our every need and expectation. Rocky start but ended very well. The food was just above average, for me, but perfectly cook. I would not make this a place for dinner but would definitely eat there for lunch...cheap... More

Seeing the sights our first night in Washington D.C. had us ending up in China town, we spotted a couple curry houses, a few boutique cafes, and down one side street with several traditional looking Chinese restaurants most with ‘hawkers’ outside the door trying to bring customers in... Jackey Café professed to have won several awards and some TV spots,... More
