It is quite difficult to find a good Italian market in DC - and this more than fits the bill! It is in the warehouse district around Union Market, but it is only one of the fully functioning stores in the original warehouses. The area is a bit rough around the edges, but once you're inside, the shelves are literally... More

My husband found this on a whim and said it was the best chicken parm sandwich ever. He is very disappointed that we don't live in DC or near DC so he frequent the place. What is also nice about A. Littteri is its selection of wines, oils, etc. It will be a must stop the next time we are... More

I've never gotten the sandwiches at A. Litteri, so I can't speak to that. What I do go for is the amazing selection of wine, jarred goods like roasted tomatoes, olives, pickled anything, and olive oil. This place is a hidden gem, packed to the brim from wall to wall with amazing finds. Wine ranges from the very affordable to... More

Great wine selection! Great pasta and olive oil selection and really good sandwiches, but if you are expecting Arthur Avenue or Little Italy... "Fogetaboutit" it isn't that! But it beats the so-called Italian Store in Arlington HANDS DOWN!

This is the place to get your wines, pastas, olive oils, and deli products. It's not a sit-down place. Take your amazing sandwich and eat it anywhere. I'm partial to the chicken or eggplant parmesan.

This place is a packed out store full of all food Italian. I love browsing through the skinny aisles looking at the monster jugs of olive oil, the great selection of wine, the myriad types of olives. At the back is a counter with slips of paper and little yellow pencils to write your order. You hand over the counter... More

This treasure of a shop is located in the Florida Market - a multi-block district of mostly warehouses just off Florida Ave. This one of the most international, entrepreneurial and vibrant areas of DC, just be sure you lock your car and hold on to your purse or wallet. The narrow aisles of the shop are stacked high with Italian... More

I found about this place through my brother. Don't be alarmed when you go there -- it's actually a wholesaler of Italian foods with some retail and a terrific deli. It's alongside other wholesalers with absolutely no curb appeal, and very narrow aisles inside to create the maximum display space. Their menu is on their website, and it does not... More
