For what it is - Mussels and Belgian beer - Great

Consistently love the mussel dishes and it has a great selection of good Belgian beer. Of course great fries, too. I hear the other food selections are good, too, just haven't tried them despite visiting 10 or so times. Nice atmosphere in a below street level place with lots of wood panels and... read more

This is a relatively small bar and grill with a commensurately small menu focusing on Belgian-style stews and (of course) mussel platters. Also very tasty Belgian waffles, if you're looking for something sweet. Nice beer list, as you'd expect from a bar with a Belgian flair. The service is friendly and casual. The food took a very long time to... More

St Arnold's Mussel Bar is a stone's throw from Dupont Circle offering a lively bar and restaurant scene with a good variety of Belgian and beers from many countries, draft and bottled, and a wide selection of mussel dishes as well as a regular menu. Nice crowd and very good food.

Recently my girlfriend and I visited here on a day trip to D.C. We both love mussels so I looked up a place to eat mussels in D.C., and I'm glad I found this spot. We started off with a delicious cheese plate. Then we tried the white whine mussels and the spicy white wine ones. Both were good, and... More

cool atmosphere, with downstairs brownstone pub-restaurant feel. Mussels were fresh, and served in a thick black cast iron skillet looking thing, cheese and meat plate appetizer was spot on because we were hungry, and the small white loved bread was delicious, as we ordered more, just because we could. The place is small, and the waitresses were right there anytime... More

Great food, outstanding beer. Service was fast and very professional. Prices are what you would expect for downtown DC. Will go again.

St. Arnold's is a Washington, D.C. culinary gem. It is a Belgian themed bar with 21 imported Belgian beers (I think that's the number!). Even if you don't like beers like me you can tell them that you like red wine instead and they will match a beer to that taste. Its incredible. The owner/bartender Peter Cosimano is without a... Good Belgian. We would probably return. There was only one waitress, who did well early on but struggled to keep up with every table as the restaurant filled. We had an appetizer, mussels, portobello sandwich, and a waffle. Enjoyed them, though the restaurant skimped on the fruit for the waffle (one thimble of berries). Good portions, though maybe a hair... More

If you don't like mussels or Belgian beers, this isn't the place for you. But, if you do, both are good, service was friendly and attentive, and the dive-bar vibe was just what we were looking for. Our group also tried the meatloaf and steak w/frites. Both were solid, but not outstanding.

Okay so here's the deal: Mussels and beer. That's it. Now they claim to have (and probably do) have googobs of Belgian beers; lots of them on tap. yo can have your mussels cooked in pretty much any of the beers and they are happy to also throw in a variety of things to flavor the mussels e.g. jalapenos, shallots,...
