Fantastic selection of mussels and Belgian beers. Reasonably priced. Good sized portions. Service can be hit or miss, but usually fine.

The Lobster Bisque was a bit salty for my taste but the Lamb was very good. The place was nice and quiet. The server was attentive and not annoying. The place had a homey feeling. Limited outdoor seating though. Will be back to try something else maybe i would be wowed...

Mussels were outstanding, the rest not so much. Slooooow kitchen despite a small house, distracted server who made a lot of mistakes, disappointing food. The house special turned out to be Campbell's Tomato soup with a little sherry and 2 small pieces of what I assume was lobster although it was difficult to be certain since they were still frozen.... I think this is the best restaurant in DC for a pot of mussels and pomme frites. The meal starts off with the best homemade baguette you can get in any restaurant in town. I love the Greek woman who serves tables in this restaurant - no pushiness and no pretensions, just old-fashioned hospitality. Love it in this homey neighborhood... More

The food is very, very good. Many wonderful mussel choices, served in huge steamers. The steak pomme frites is the real thing, so is the bread, and so is the butter. The sausages are lovely, as are the brussel sprouts. The prices are much better than Salt and Pepper or Et Voila. Recently, the service has been a bit spotty.

Me and my husband used to live in Belgium for over 2 years . So glad we found this spot , such a cozy place. I ordered duck breast , cooked to perfection, and well presented . I tasted some of the mussel Snob pot , very delicious. Mussels must be the best in DC .The wait stuff seemed very friendly... More

The first thing I noticed was the Belgium theme to the menu. If you like beer, then you should head over here ,This place is clean and nicely decorated. The dishes here are not only delicious...But they are EXCITING, and will make you feel like you are on a culinary adventure. Also they do have a new menu Monday through Thursday... More

Sur La Place was recommended by one of our foodie friend and I was told that their mussels are to die for. Being lived in Belgium for 9 years, I know good mussels and I know my bier. Sur la Place is definitely a gem yet to be explored. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the staff friendly and efficient,... More

I have been here several times and the last time was the pits. In the past this place was wonderful so I am not sure what happened. I want to give them the benefit of trying them again and can only hope this was just a bad night. The server argued with us, the food was cold, the place smelled... More

Every neighborhood should have a restaurant like this. Charming and quiet on the inside. Fabulous food. My wife and I went on New Years Eve where they had a special fixed price menu ($55/pp) for a three course meal. For the first course we had a smoked trout salad and wild mushroom with lamb sausage. For the second, a pan... More
