Reservations are not required. Contact us for large parties or special events. Feel free to contact us regarding our seating policy. Yes, we do serve brunch/lunch on Sunday with a great prix fixe including French Toast, Steak and Eggs, Eggs Benedict and bottomless bloody Marys, mimosas and screwdrivers. During the evenings, Medium Rare offers a unique, prix fixe dinning experience of artisan bread; a mixed green salad; prime, dry-aged steak; and hand-cut fries in a relaxed, fun, neighborhood environment. As we do only one thing, we do our best to make the food and experience exceptional and also a good value. There are only a few wine, spirits, and draft beer choices, but each were selected specifically to accompany your meal. We offer an off-the-menu vegetarian option. Please contact us to inquire.

Medium Rare has an extensive menu - one entree item. You have your choice of steak frites. Your only choices to make are what you want to drink, how you want your steak prepared, and dessert. The first thing to arrive was warm crusty bread and their special sauce. The salad was fresh and the dressing delicious. The first round... More

What a great surprise. While visiting The DC area, friends brought us here. Great service and wonderful tasting food (steak, fries and salad). There definitely is an advantage to serving the limited menu...steak or steak. We would definitely eat here again if the opportunity presents itself. Just make sure to call ahead for a reservation!

What a fun place to eat. Bread - salad - steak - frites. No wasting time pouring over the menu - just decide how you want your steak cooked and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, particularly the special steak sauce with hints of peppercorn. And they come back with seconds just when you have... More

While not for the picky eater, the steak with sauce, fries, and salad are very tasty even if there is not much else. Perhaps that is why it is so good. Our server was friendly and everyone in a party of about 10 said their steak was cooked just as ordered. They did even cook up a portobello mushroom for... More

The menu is shirt and sweet. Steak cooked to your specs, delicious crispy fries, salad and wonderfull artesian bread, all for under $20. Best part, is once you clean your plate, they fill it up again. Limited wine list but ok.

I loved the sauce and I am not a big bread person but it was very good- crispy on outside, light and airy inside. Salad was very fresh w/ a light but tasty dressing- friend asked for more salad and it was $5. Steak was cooked just right and was enough for me but not sure my husband would have been... More

For $20.00 you get two servings of steak with their delicious butter sauce, bread and fries. All in all it's a great deal, and something different. Their fries and sauce were the stars of the show for me. My first serving of steak was served cold, the next one was served warmer, but still not a hot steak. If you're... More

We've been long time fans of Medium Rare over the past three years. I've always been pleased with the food and service. Knowing it is popular and appeals to many families in NW DC, I tend to go on Sunday evenings or a later during a weeknight to avoid crowds. I am a definite lover of this style of streak... More

This is a great little find. It is best not to read too much in advance of you visit. Enjoy the discovery once you are there. The menu contains your first set of clues on what to expect from the meal. Choose your order from the extensive list of items. A suprise will follow the serving of the main course.... More
