Acqua al 2 is expensive but outstanding, pleasantly atmospheric without the formality that similarly high end restaurants often have. Sharing among four people we had: * Buffalo mozzarella caprese appetizer:excellent fresh tomatoes (especially out of season) and high-quality mozzarella * Two salads, fresh and garlicky * Shrimp over flat pasta special entree (2 orders): very sweet succulent shrimp * Pasta... I have now been to all 3 of the Acqua al 2s! I feel like part of an elite few whom have had the experience to enjoy the same great meal in different locations. Although this one is not located in Florence, you feel like you step out of DC for a few hours and are taken into Italy for... More

We came here on a recent Sunday evening (having booked in advance), influenced by what we read on "Trip Advisor". As we discovered, in getting there, and more worryingly, in getting back, the restaurant is not the most centrally located, but as long as patrons are prepared to walk in the door and pay the Check / Bill, management &... I was there for a nice business dinner and the restaurant did not let me down. We went soup to nuts. The appetizers, the first and second courses all around were great and the sampler desert tray was a perfect finish. The staff and bartenders were all friendly and provided excellent service.

Friends told us we must go to this charming, Italian restaurant by the Eastern Market on Capitol Hill, DC. Visually, it is charming, old (that is good), and popular. We had some unforgettable courses, notably the halibut on top of a truffled (not enough truffles, at least for me, as I love them) risotto. Excellent! And the pumpkin cheesecake was... More

A great dinner on Halloween ... The trio of salads was great and the trio of meats even better! ... Very cosy atmosphere with great staff ... Couldn't have been a nicer night!

I live in Maryland and am always looking for Italian location. The Eastern Market is a great location and far enough away from the high dollar K Street locations. The wait staff brought a little bit of Italy right to the table. Although his broken English took a few minutes to understand he was attentive and made great recommendations. Wine... More

I was searching for an Italian restaurant in DC for my pre-marathon dinner. I saw this on Trip Advisor and booked based on reviews and location. Great choice by me! I loved the location and neighborhood. (Note: may be hard to get a taxi home!) The food was very good. Bread was good and plentiful. We all had pasta dishes... More

Having been to Florence, I can happily tell you that Acqua al 2 brings it to the US with gusto...this is a great spot for a truly wonderful Italian dining experience. Very helpful, attentive service, delicious food (peppercorn steak and Farfalline ai Funghi Porcini... molto bene!), and a great tiramisu to top it off... I highly recommend you try it... More

Visited this little jewel only at the recommendation of a colleague. Went with wife and two young kids. Very quaint, good service and phenomenal food. Mozzarella and tomato salad was solid, but the real hit was the vegetarian pasta sampler (two person minimum). Five courses, including gnocchi with goat cheese, penne with marinara, and others that I'm "misremembering". All melt... More
