This little restaurant is right across the street from Eastern Market -- the vibe is brick and a little dark, but cozy. The dishes are prepared with care and attention and are very good. The wine choices are excellent and the wait staff is knowledgable and attentive. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite places in DC. Great food and atmosphere. The staff very friendly and polite which is another thing that makes this place so special. Reservation is recommended.

This was my second visit to this restaurant and it was great! Wonderful pasta, cute atmosphere and very good service. Parking was easy and it was just a cozy and charming place on a cold bleak winter night. Impressed with the kitchen and the staff. Very authentic italian--not like the one in Florence, which is also wonderful but different. You... More

Pastas were top notch, and portions just right. Tiny bar, but cozy with a big picture window of street/Eastern Market. Go with seasonal specials, we had a burrata with spaghetti squash that was an unusual blend of savory and sweet. The cheesecake is super light and fluffy.

In Washington DC with friends for Christmas. The restaurant is an easy walk from the Eastern Market metro stop. Had a reservation but arrived early for drinks in the bar. Not many people in the bar so we were surprised that the service was not attentive. As the bar started to fill up, the staff spent most time chatting with... More

Acqua al 2 was touted as an upscale Italian eatery. Frankly, anything but. It was a 45 minute mediocre, at best, "extravaganza." I choose my terms carefully. My chicken cutlet in port wine sauce was abysmal. A pounded out thin, thin sliver of overdone chicken laced with inexpensive balsamic. A horror. My wife enjoyed her pasta dish, and graciously shared... More

Acqua al 2 is expensive but outstanding, pleasantly atmospheric without the formality that similarly high end restaurants often have. Sharing among four people we had: * Buffalo mozzarella caprese appetizer:excellent fresh tomatoes (especially out of season) and high-quality mozzarella * Two salads, fresh and garlicky * Shrimp over flat pasta special entree (2 orders): very sweet succulent shrimp * Pasta... I have now been to all 3 of the Acqua al 2s! I feel like part of an elite few whom have had the experience to enjoy the same great meal in different locations. Although this one is not located in Florence, you feel like you step out of DC for a few hours and are taken into Italy for... More

We came here on a recent Sunday evening (having booked in advance), influenced by what we read on "Trip Advisor". As we discovered, in getting there, and more worryingly, in getting back, the restaurant is not the most centrally located, but as long as patrons are prepared to walk in the door and pay the Check / Bill, management &... I was there for a nice business dinner and the restaurant did not let me down. We went soup to nuts. The appetizers, the first and second courses all around were great and the sampler desert tray was a perfect finish. The staff and bartenders were all friendly and provided excellent service.
