Description: Pitango Gelato creates authentic gelato focusing on classic Italian...
Pitango Gelato creates authentic gelato focusing on classic Italian flavors rather than novelties or trends. Made with grass-fed organic milk from a single-herd farm and fresh organic fruit and nuts, our products contain no flavorings, no colorings, nor artificial ingredients of any kind. We also our coffee very seriously. It is made with organic, single-estate beans roasted especially for us in small batches by a local boutique roaster. We use a traditional espresso machine that requires some fussing and banging but delivers a perfect shot every time. And we make our cappuccino with organic grass-fed milk, steamed for every individual order.

way to end an evening meal!

Our grouped stopped there twice. Their gelato (hazelnut) was good as was their sorbet. They have a bench outside so you can sit with your dog and eat your dessert.

Very popular place for Gelato. Very good place and not cheap, but if you go to D.C. don't expect anything cheap! They had wonderful flavors. We ate the Grapefruit, Passion Fruit and Pineapple....all very delicious!

We were walking around DC during the 4th of July weekend and craving some ice cream under that hot weather. I decided to look around for Italian Gelato places and found this one on TripAdvisor. I am kind of skeptical when people here in the US write about how great a gelato is but have never been to Italy to... More

I'm a huge gelato fan! Pitango has great gelato, and note that while it may seem expensive you can actually get two flavors in the same cup. I would recommend getting non-fruit gelato (the fruit gelato is honestly more like sorbet; doesn't taste like authentic gelato at all), and stick to the cream/chocolate/etc flavors.

I've been to other Pitango Gelato locations and they are consistently great places to get gelato. We stopped by after a hot day of walking around at the washington convention center and even though there was a line out the door, they got everyone served very efficiently. And my-oh-my such good gelato. We were smiling all the way back to... More

We ate a lot of gelato in Italy recently and went here for dessert while visiting DC. The counter girl was pleasant and efficient and the signs said they used naturally sourced local ingredients. I got pistachio and it didn't taste like them or really much of anything. The texture was good though. A small cup is $6.

My husband loves gelato so we had to stop here. He had the crema, Italian custard and loved it. I had raspberry sorbet. It was a little tart.

I got my usual 2 flavors (as there weren't any other flavors that tempted me) Strawberry and Lemon Sorbetto. I was happy w/the lemon, however the Strawberry had a very "dairy/milk" like flavor to it and it wasn't very "strawberry" like. Typically Sorbetto doesn't have a dairy feel or flavor to it since it's not made with any milk or... More

Stopped here for a mid-afternoon ice cream stop with the family. Had to walk a few blocks away from the sights and from the dicey looking ice cream trucks, and it was well worth it! Wide variety of gelato and sorbet flavors, between the 4 of us we had 8 different ones and they were all great. Would definitely recommend.
