Description: Pitango Gelato creates authentic gelato focusing on classic Italian flavors...
Pitango Gelato creates authentic gelato focusing on classic Italian flavors rather than novelties or trends. Made with grass-fed organic milk from a single-herd farm and fresh organic fruit and nuts, our products contain no flavorings, no colorings, nor artificial ingredients of any kind. We also our coffee very seriously. It is made with organic, single-estate beans roasted especially for us in small batches by a local boutique roaster. We use a traditional espresso machine that requires some fussing and banging but delivers a perfect shot every time. And we make our cappuccino with organic grass-fed milk, steamed for every individual order.

Huge selection but overpriced

Small and cozy place, surprising combination of flavours but very expensive. Not enough place to sit down and it was really busy.

My nephew and I had stopped at this place. It is a rather small place and you will likely eat your gelato standing up against the counter. On my nephew's advice I tried the Affogato - a gelato that is served side by side with black espresso coffee. I ordered a chocolate flavored gelato and proceeded to float the gelato... More

We went to Pitango after having delicious gelato in Rome last spring. The ice cream was very good, but it was not gelato. And it was not cheap. Disappointing. Staff were nice, though

The place looks authentic and it's on a busy bustling street near a lot of other excellent eateries. The service was adequate but without any smiles. And when we asked for a 2nd sample, they were not happy. You know when the staff makes you feel like you should decide right away when you've never been there before? There is... More

My daughter and I visited Pitango Gelato on a recent visit to DC, an it didn't disappoint. I recommend the lemon sorbet, but there were at least a half dozen other flavors I would have tried. My only issue with this location is its distance from the metro. No stations were very close, which might dissuade some patrons who are... More

Our grouped stopped there twice. Their gelato (hazelnut) was good as was their sorbet. They have a bench outside so you can sit with your dog and eat your dessert.

Very popular place for Gelato. Very good place and not cheap, but if you go to D.C. don't expect anything cheap! They had wonderful flavors. We ate the Grapefruit, Passion Fruit and Pineapple....all very delicious!

We were walking around DC during the 4th of July weekend and craving some ice cream under that hot weather. I decided to look around for Italian Gelato places and found this one on TripAdvisor. I am kind of skeptical when people here in the US write about how great a gelato is but have never been to Italy to... More

I'm a huge gelato fan! Pitango has great gelato, and note that while it may seem expensive you can actually get two flavors in the same cup. I would recommend getting non-fruit gelato (the fruit gelato is honestly more like sorbet; doesn't taste like authentic gelato at all), and stick to the cream/chocolate/etc flavors.
