I ate at this restaurant three time two years ago. The food was fabulous, it had a huge outdoor seating section, and the wait staff was terrific. My husband and I went back day after day. I went this year in October and it was closed. No one at the W Hotel knew why. Too bad. A great loss.

We truly enjoyed everything about Potenza! Soup to nuts, we had no complaint! So... you're thinking...why did I title it "Loved it....but...." The only reason is because our waitress told us the restaurant has been sold and will be changed over completely : (

We liked this place well enough on our recent trip to DC that we ate there twice. The food, service and atmosphere were all quite good. I would especially recommend the pizza arrabiata. Bottles of wine are half price on Sundays and Mondays.

i've had mostly good food here - early on it was more hit or miss. sundays and mondays are half price bottle of wine days. the staff always go out of their way (sometimes too much) to make sure that everything's going well.

Recently took my family on vacation in DC. We chose to eat at Potenza after hearing about it from a co-worker and reading the good reviews on trip advisor. The food was tasty, but nothing special. I was disappointed that this exclusively Italian restaurant didn't have some old favorites on the menu including Lasagna or Baked Ziti (at least I... More

We first ate at Potenza about a year ago. We shared pizza and a couple of side orders -- the roasted brussels sprouts were good -- and we each had a decent and reasonably priced glass of wine. On that visit, we liked Potenza's informality and unpretentiousness and even preferred it to another downtown Italian restaurant that had been billed... More

Very nice place in downtown DC for lunch. Essentially Italian, with a nice variety of luncheon items. Fungi sandwich was excellent, but to big for a lunch item, so be ready to take half home.

We enjoyed an excellent Italian dinner last week at Potenza. My husband chose veal scallopine; I went with pasta and three different kinds of meat balls. Both of us were more than pleased. We are senior citizens, both a bit deaf, but the staff did their best to give us a quiet-ish table, which we appreciated. Potenza is neither fancy... More

I had high hopes for authentic Italian cuisine. The pizza was very good, but not like Italy. Salad on the other hand was wonderful, as was the service and the wine list.

The menu is awesome. The kids had Polpette e Mozzarella served with house made Tuscan potato chips. I had the Insalata con Bistecca and wow it was great.
