Attentive staff, terrific food, and beautiful floral arrangements help with the sticker shock. They did not charge for bottled water at least.

My husband & I visited The Lafayette for my birthday celebration. Everything was perfect! The wait staff was incredibly attentive (especially Clarence), the food was creative & delicious, & the ambiance was very romantic with lovely background piano music. It truly was a special occasion dining experience. I recommend this restaurant highly & am looking forward to a return trip... More

I reserved a table at this place because of all the reviews that say you can see White House. I was bringing my family so I wanted them to have the best experience. So I did my homework, looked into options, made the reservation, booked a table right next to window. What else could I do, right? Unfortunately, it's the... More

Spectacular views of the White House and surrounding area. Front end staff excellent but wait staff lack luster at best. I had to ask for coffee !? Food was good (4 star) but for the price more stations needed. I would expect a omelet station at the very least. You are paying top dollar at the Hay Adams but the... More

We only ate here for breakfast since it was very convenient to eat at the hotel's restaurant. Their menu is very innovative and has a nice selection of comfort breakfast food with an innovative twist (for example oatmeal soufflé). It could be pricy... a glass of OJ goes for $7. But it is very good. Service is immaculate.

After proposing, I took my fiancé to the Hay Adams Hotel's Lafayette Restaurant for a celebratory breakfast. I'd stopped by to check things out a few days in advance and to let them know what I was up to. When we checked in, we quickly realized that the whole team knew what we were up to and were enthusiastically awaiting... More

Excellent service, tables are spaced nicely so you are not up against someone. You can have a conversation here unlike so many other places. Our waiter was super friendly and really took care of us. The food was good. The Crab Fritter Salad and the Winter Root veggies were fabulous. The Dover Sole was Outstanding and the portion size was... More

We signed up for the prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner and were not disappointed. This was way more than we usually spend for a meal but this was an event and deserved a special occasion. While I have had more interesting food this was all done to perfection. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. I only wish I... More

We were staying at the Hay Adams so were lucky enough to have our breakfasts here.Well...you are greeted in charming fashion and enter a room filled with semi familiar faces...a well known journo and a couple of unpalatable politicos from Arizona and Mississipi dotted around the grand rooms (there are at least 2-one of which is social Siberia).A great place...
