My daughter and I, we ate here over the Martin Luther King, MLK weekend, the food and service was outstanding. We sat next to the fireplace and enjoyed the warmth and quiet. I had the Cesar Salad with Crabcake and my daughter had the Angus Burger. The crabcake was the freshest and largest crabcake I ever had in my entire... More

Stayed at the hotel so got dinner twice, its ok, I did think it was expensive for what we had. If you are staying at the hotel it is a fine place to go if you don´t feel like jumping into a cab or walking, but just to go as a restaurant not worth it.

Our server Helen was very attentive and extremely polite. The food was mediocre at best. The salad was plentiful but seemed to be over soaked with dressing. The corn chowder was bland. The ravioli tasted very much like the prepackaged variety that is sold in grocery stores. Overall this was not a pleasant food experience.

Ate lunch here but have also dined on prior business trips. The restaurant offers some good items. I had the crab cake sandwich and it was excellent. I'd pay attention to suggestions for what's good or local specialties. Staff was friendly and attentive and allowed us to prepare for our meeting (it was not crowded and we stayed a bit... More

Stayed for 3 days, ate there multiple times. Bread was stale for Bruschetta; tasted good otherwise, but food is about on-par with other places that make simple fair. The big reason for average is mostly due to price. While I know it is downtown and the price is to be expected for a typical hotel restaurant, it still seems steep... More

My wife and I dropped in for a quick drink and a snack before going to the National theater next door. The bartender was alone covering the tables and the bar but went into hyperdrive to make us comfortable. The bad news was that the wine I ordered was not available and it took fifteen minutes for the bar inside... More

We had a group of 12 for a big family dinner, and there was something for everyone. The service was wonderful, and a delicious assortment of fresh crusty breads were served. We also ate breakfast twice, and the service was outstanding - especially Fifi, who was so charming and helpful to my grandchildren.

I chose Avenue Grill because of its proximity to the UMOJA Performance at the National Theatre our group of nine was going to see. The restaurant's proximity also meant an easy/short walk for those with mobility issues. We were greeted immediately and seated, thanks to everyone out sightseeing. Hanna was our quiet, polite, and efficient waiter. Two of our group... More

We walked up to the Avenue Grill at 9pm Friday night after asking the hotel front desk where to grab something to eat. They said the avenue grill directly below was open until 10pm. We walked downstairs and up to the counter and I asked to see a menu. The host behind the counter literally looked at me and didn't... More

We were staying at the JW Marriott and planned to walk to the District Chophouse. After traipsing through the Smithsonian museums all day, we wanted something close. So hubby got the Cowboy steak and I got the salmon. Both were delicious, perfectly prepared and nicely presented. I got a Pimm's Cup, which I really enjoyed, and hubby got a beer.... More
