I miss the Fijian manager who used to be here but give me the steak and eggs anytime, I met chef Gloria who's been here 29 years, couldn't have been nicer. My companion complained last time no toast but this time, toast came with the order. I think it's a shame hotel restaurants aren't patronized... read more

Went here on the rave reviews of the lobster mac and cheese by a friend. Alas, that was no longer on the menu (though it does appear on all the online menus we checked). The bread basket is the best thing on the menu. The fall sangria was awful. Way too heavy. My salad had old lettuce. The service was... More

Treat yourself to lunch in an historic hotel near the mall and White House. The Avenue Grill is a bright spot with diners spread out in a wide area on different levels. We ordered the angus burger (cooked to perfection) and the crabcake sandwich. The crabcake was an inch thick and as big as the bun! It was seasoned just... More

The convenience is perfect but the food is fantastic. We stopped in for lunch and opted for the fried chicken sandwich with homemade pickles. I know it's and odd choice but this is legendary and really good. We complimented it with the crab and corn bisque. Wow, I wish I lived a lot closer. Our second meal was breakfast and... More

The breakfast buffet was extensive and a great way to start the day. We entertained some agency employees for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the menu and service, while conducting business. I would highly recommend this restaurant in the heart of the city's agency headquarters.

We stopped here for lunch and had a strange experience. There was almost nobody eating but we were asked about reservations twice. Good was pretty good. Three of us had the club sandwiches and they we're very good. The service was polite when we got it but we got very little. It bothers me when you have to repeatedly have... More

Hello, Thank you for joining us for lunch in the Avenue Grill. I apologize for the lack of prompt service that you experienced with our server. I was greeted by a very friendly hostess and an even friendlier bar tender. I ordered to go and was treated to a wine tasting to help me make up my mind on what I would drink with my dinner (which isn't customary but the bar was empty and only 2 other patrons were in the restaurant.) I was recommended... More

If you're there for lunch, and you love crab cakes, get the Caesar Salad with Crab Cake....They serve the cake on top of the salad but I had them bring me an extra plate so I could remove it and put it on the side. Caesar Salad was great and the crab cake was "the cat's meow"... :-)! I like... More

Restaurant is in JW Marriott but can be accessed street level. Ate there our first night and then again for breakfast the next day. Everything was very very good - service was a little slow but they were very busy. The bread pudding french toast is dreamy and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly!

Another solid Marriott dining experience. No surprises, nothing fancy. Scrambled eggs, tasty turkey and pork sausages, pecan-smoked bacon, home fries, fresh fruit, pastries, and an omelet station provide something for just about everybody. Located in the JW Marriott near the White House, this is a great spot to fuel up for a day of touring the capital city.
