Everyone here has already said what needs to be praised about this place, so I'll keep it short. Founding Farmers does not lie about its farm-to-table concepts, as you can certainly taste the freshness and the quality with everything you get on the menu! I had the shrimp and grit entree and it was absolutely delicious. As others have recommended,... More

The waiter we had was a dud, but the food was amazing. I had a stuffed New Orleanes style french toast that was out of this world. It had a sweet cream custard filling with strawberries, and it was phenomenal!

Very popular and busy spot - we walked in at 7:30 on a Sunday night and there was an hour and a half wait...fortunately we snagged seats at the bar within a couple minutes. There was still a crowd of people waiting for tables when we left after 9 pm. The menu offers a wide range of comfort foods, from... More

The restaurant has a good menu with something for everyone. It seems to be a hip restaurant in the city. We enjoyed it. Be aware drinks (non-alcoholic) can get pricey.

Wait. A staff with engaging personalities combined with really good food at sensible prices. In DC. I almost thought I was dreaming. Great drinks. Wonderfully tasty food. A bantering bartender and waitress. I'll be back every time I'm in the District.

We loved Founding Farmers. I'm a vegetarian. We first went for dinner because they have a lot of veg options. The fried green tomatoes were the highlight. Our second visit was for breakfast. I had a huge bowl of oatmeal with an english muffin...so good!

The options for a full breakfast (other than our hotel) in DC were somewhat limited but we tried this place after hearing about it from others. The staff were friendly enough and we were seated right away. Service was spotty ...just so so....and a bit on the slow side so be aware if you are on a tight timeline. The... More

Hi Nancy- Thank you for taking the time to write. It certainly sounds like we failed to 'wow' you and I'm so sorry for letting you down. We never want you to leave feeling like you wasted time or money, and I can assure you that we hold ourselves to much higher standards. I'd love to know more specifics about... More

You need to eat here if you're in DC. Tough to get a reservation, but such a fun place and the food is seriously outrageously good. Founding Farmers puts their own unique twist on simple comfort foods that you've always loved- but still retains the core of what you love about the food. No crazy experimentation- just enhanced flavors that... More

Absolute must! My husband and I visited while we were in town and to this day it is one of our favorite restaurants we've ever visited. There was a bit of a wait - in fact, to the point that we almost left because people who had arrived after us were seated before us. It took about an hour, and... More

I love founding farmers! I go to school in DC and founding farmers is the place I recommend to friends and family coming into town. I also love going there for a fresh, reasonably priced meal when I don't feel like cooking. They have great breakfast scrambles, lunch salads, and dinners too. I'm gluten free so I haven't been able... More
