Turn off the wi-fi and maybe the faux-hipster techno-nerds will evaporate

Tryst is a wonderful place, to be sure. It's a throwback to those days when neighborhood coffee shops were social gathering places to chat with friends. Before the advent of the electronic octopus called the wi-fi this is what Tryst must have been like, once. When I was there out of 18 people who... read more

Had a great coffee (mocha) and breakfast. Both inside and outside seating. Very friendly waitstaff. Inside is bit eclectic, but has a cool vibe if you want to just hang out. Large menu, with great breakfast / brunch items (and more).

We went here twice on our visit, the first time was for an early lunch and the sandwiches were lack luster. Mine was oscar meyer roast beef, and not much else, it was really disappointing. We decided to return the next evening because because the cocktails look good, and they were. The appetizers we ordered with our drinks were great,... More

European cafe culture outside of Europe? Waiters not rushing to offer your check after you finish your drinks? Sign me up! Tryst stays true to cafe culture, but does so in a modern way. There are a few tables outside, and plentiful couches and chairs inside. Drinks come with a pair of animal crackers. Tea, served in a large pot... More

Afternoon a few hours viewing the Phillips Collection, we decided to relax and recharge with a pot of tea at Tryst located right inside the museum. The place had a nice buzz with groups of all ages and an interesting slide show playing to learn more about the exhibits on display. Although it was just a pot of tea, it... More

Relaxing place for lunch with super friendly waitress. There were tons of options on the menu for everyone. We have a salmon sandwich and squash flatbread. Yummy! As much as we would like to try desserts, we just can't eat anymore. Will definitely go back to try their coffee and dessert very very soon :)

Our family spent 4 days in D.C. and we are sad that we didn't find this gem until our last day! We ate at several popular local restaurants and this was by far the best meal we had and the best value as well!! Great eclectic atmosphere and friendly service too! Highly recommend!

So many places to choose from in Adams Morgan.. Walking by decided to stop and sit outside in the sunshine. Had 3 mushroom tart with green salad AND Lavender hot chocolate. The tart was just the right size , full of different mushrooms and flavorful. The salad was fresh and tasty with blue cheese dressing. I was happy. Now the... More

I went here on a Sunday afternoon, it's a great place to just have lunch, coffees and work a bit or read a book. Good atmosphere and very friendly service!

I've been here before for coffee and tea. But today I went for pastries. It was impossible to get a seat, it was crowded. I ordered a slice of apple caramel pie and coconut pie. Both were delicious. Not too sweet. Coffee is also very good.
