I've been coming to Tryst for many years, and in my experience this is the best place for a classic relaxed cafe atmosphere, great food and drinks, with plenty of space to work on computers with available power outlets or just hang out and talk. Some of their excellent items include: Chaippucinos (either hot or frozen, both delicious), Spicy Bloody... More

This café / tea-room was a great find. Service was slow, but everyone (except us!) seemed to have ensconced themselves for the afternoon with their laptops. No-one seemed to be in transit to elsewhere. So the atmosphere was laid-back, feel-at-home. Very pleasant, courteous service. Interesting mix of furniture - sofa, wing-back armchairs, upright café-table chairs. My partner had a salad... More

They don't offer WiFi on the weekends which I get BC they want to turn and burn tables for brunch but still disappointing. SUPER loud music during the day. Took a long time for someone to notice me so I could get served. Much better atmosphere at night

I just love this place, everything about it. The ambiance, food, drinks, free wifi everything. Night time does have a different atmosphere than during the day but both are perfect.

We decided to try a local spot for a Sunday morning breakfast. We stumbled across Tryst as we walked along 18th Street NW in DC. Tryst's is obviously a well-known local spot and the décor is early Ikea. Nothing pretentious at all; just plain tables and chairs for those eating in and a counter for the takeout (that was doing... I had lunch with a few DC based friends at Tryst. The food was great, desserts were pretty good. The waffles can be customized any way you want them from the menu (we got a banana chocolate chip waffle.) The sandwiches are delicious! The service was friendly and efficient. Even though it's very casual, Tryst was one of my favorite... More

Super cute, DELICIOUS great quality food (we had brie/honey crostini, bbq chicken/bacon wrap, darjeeling tea and a slice of chocolate silk pie). Everything was tasty and service absolutely great!! They brought 2 animal crackers with my tea, now THIS is pretty damn awesome :)

Tryst is a cool laid back spot with couches and tables everywhere. It is a great laid back hang out spot. I like to get a pot of their fresh loose leaf tea (they have a huge selection) and sit back and talk with friends. They have food there too, like sandwiches and salads, but I would not go there... Great independent coffee house with a casual atmosphere. About a 15 minute walk from the Woodley Park metro stop, it is worth the walk if you are in the area to visit the zoo. Fabulous food and great coffee. Staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Family friendly with seating inside or out. Food options span the full gamut... More
