After a walk down the hallway of the elegant family home, you arrive at the restaurant at the back of the property. The view of the hills is beautiful in the outdoor setting underneath the magnificent old Ceiba tree which the waiter told me was about 400 years old. Although the prices are bit more than elsewhere, the food was... More

They have many runners on the road who all want to escort you to this restaurant. Its all because of the commission they pay. That commission is reflected in their prices: you pay way too much for what they offer. My advise: do not go there.

This restaurant has incorporated a very old and spectacular ceiba tree as the focal point on its upper terrace. Speculation on the age of the tree varies from 100 to 500 years and its religious connotations date back to the Mayans. In fact, the ceiba tree has a long tradition in history and the African slaves adopted the ceiba tree... More

A lovely restaurant. I recommend sitting on the outdoor terrace under the 100 year old ceiba tree. The food and service was good. I had tasty shrimps in a unusual honey, lemon and rum sauce which came with rice, plantain and a type of potato For appetizer we were served a fruit salad, a regular salad and a vegetable broth... The restaurant is a little bit hidden throughout the streets of Trinidad. However make sure you will find this one! The name La ceiba is named after the big tree, supposed to be 300 years old on the terrace. You have stunning views on the mountains, a romantic, clean and nice terrace. And the food is absolutely fantastic. Hidden gem... More

Very big tree in the back yard gives this place its name. The terrace is great and it's worth to go just for the ambience. The honey chicken we had was good although a bit the meal was a bit more expensive than in other restaurants in Trinidad. But not overpriced. The terrace being full it seemed the waitress had... If you like sitting under an old tree while eating really bad and really expensive Cuban food then this is the place for you. If you'd prefer good service, good food and a price that goes with the meal than I suggest you go someplace else. This restaurant offers highly overpriced and tasteless meals (served cold, undercooked, microwaved?) and does... More

This restaurant has the most magnificent setting, below the grand Ceiba tree. It is beautifully lit, and really is a world class setting for an evening meal. However it pretty much ends there, with the food basically the same as everywhere else: standard meals of fish, pork, beef, lobster served basically the same. Having said this, it was pretty difficult... More

This restaurant is built around a beautiful and very impressive cieba tree. It is quite surprising to go through a regular looking house from the outside and to discover such a beautiful place inside. However- in my opinion that is not good enough reason to go there since the food was not very good, and prices relatively high.

Ordinary looking terrace type house on a cobbled street. Down stairs to back patio sheltered by enormous Ceiba tree. Comprehensive menu, fresh, nicely cooked food. Assorted drink options. Reasonable prices.
