We had a bit of cabin fever in our wee bach, so packed up the extended family and headed across the Sound to Raetihi. Well what a surprise to find a sophisticated lodge that was still welcoming to a "straggly" bunch of kiwis on holiday. Outdoor dining with smart white tablecloths set the scene for delightful lunch. The service was... More

The location on Kenepuru Sound is paradise. What a surprise to find such a talented chef and lovely, welcoming staff. The seafood platter for two was wonderful, but then so was everything else we ate during our 3 days in this little bit of paradise.

The lodge manager James and his staff made sure we enjoyed our stay. The food and the service are exceptional. Plenty of choice.

This is a delightfully relaxing retreat at Double Bay, in the Marlborough Sounds -----we reached it by vehicle after 73 kilometres of spectacular, bush-clad road winding its way around the water's edge but noticed others doing so by water taxi and seaplane. Our stay was all too short, just two nights, but we plan to remedy that on a future... More

My husband and I spent two nights here in December. Weather wasn't ideal but was a great weekend. Really special beautiful location, went on a bush walk, borrowed the kayaks for a paddle around, read books and had a fantastic massage! Staff were lovely and the manager James was always helpful. The restaurant food was really great - breakfast menu... More

we spent 3 nights in dec, and were concerned the food would be average since its quite remote. Surprisingly the 2 young chefs provided some of the best food we had in South Island during our 3 week stay, comparable to pegasus bay and amisfield and witherhills, and definitely better than luna or plato. We loved the mussels - treated... More

Went to the Lodge for dinner on New Years Eve. It is a lovely setting deep in the Marlborough Sounds. We had an outside table as it was a lovely evening. Good service spoilt when wrong wine was brought. My wife ordered pate and for main artichoke tart. I had a prawn starter followed by venison. The meals were delivered... More

I spent 2 days here in Novemeber and it was the best time ever. Everything was perfect...the food, staff, rooms, views, activities and the massage with Julie was simply divine! Highly recommended! Keep up the good work....cannot wait to return!
