Cortado's decor was modern and stylish, its view was a pleasant reminder of its waterfront location, its wait staff was attentive in spite of it being busy, and, most importantly, its food was good. Based on the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, I was skeptical of getting a good meal here, but the menu looked okay so we gave it... More

Called in for breakfast told 5 mins to finish then I had to say where I was sitting before I could pay. At that point on my own so had not decided. Advice be warmer to your customers they might come back also had eggs benedict with mushrooms "kind of stingy portion"

We had an early dinner here after crossing on the ferry from Wellington. There weren't many vegetarian options for my sister and I, but the staff were very accommodating in removing the chicken from a gnocchi dish (and lowering the price accordingly) so that we could try 2 different meals. The gnocchi was not the best, but decent, but we... More

We were a party of four, no reservation and hungry...the place was packed. An Australian couple was sitting at a large table and invited us to share it with them. This made for a delightful evening. The food was very good, I had a large vegetarian pizza, my husband the Grouper on a bed of Parmesan- mushroom risotto, another a... More

We ate at Cortado's twice in the week we were in Piston. The staff were most accommodating, finding us a table when they were booked out. The service was fast and their pizza was delicious.

On arrival we were asked to wait for a table as the restaurant was extremely busy. After about 5 min we were taken to a table and seated. We were only given one menu, but this was rectified after about five or 6 min and the second menu brought to the table. We were not provided with any water and... More

We visit New Zealand most years to see family and I must say having been all over the country this restaurant ranks the worst I have experienced in New Zealand. The food was on a par with a bad airline dish served on a plate though. Their service very poor, no bill at the end your just told the amount... More

What a great location--right on the waterfront. The service was undistinguished, and characterised by communication difficulties. Food delivery was on the slow side but the meals were OK when they arrived. Conversation was a little difficult because of the high noise levels, and compounded by the rugby on TV. A mid level restaurant/bar, not for fine dining!

Great location but the food quality and service is poor in comparison with what you're paying. I ordered a steak here and while it was nice it was poorly cooked. It seems that it was cooked from frozen as some parts of the steak were almost blue raw while others were closer to medium well done. Staff were not friendly... More
