We had fresh, crumb-crusted fish, and devoured it on a patio overlooking the bay. Unlike any other we've had - and we've had many!

Having boasted to my partners parents from the UK that this was the best fish and chips in NZ, we were let down. The fish itself was nice, but batter was under-cooked and soggy along with luke-warm chips. The best fish and chips are at the Leithfield tavern near Amberley, North Canterbury.

Went too late to get the Blue Cod but was recommended grouper which was great. Big portions well cooked.

We arrived at 8pm looking forward to our fish and chips. There was a couple sitting at a table outside, eating theirs. We asked if they were ok and were assured that they were excellent. We went in to order ours but were told that they were closing so wet fish was off the menu. We declined the alternatives. Based... More

Huge portions of fish and chips. Would have given 5 stars but they had run out of blue cod when we visited. However substitute was still tender and tasty.

We had a great experience and loved the fresh fish & chips. The cafe is quite simple but the quality of the fish & chips makes up for this.

This place is popular and I can see why. The fish and chips are exactly how they used to be made, and wrapped in paper. The fish was well cooked and delicious and the chips were perfect. The portions are large and the price was reasonable. The service in this shop is good, they have large numbers coming through the... More
