What a shame great position, great food, pity about service.

Such a pity that the management staff have no customer service, twice I've been in and each time I feel like a school girl being repremanded by the headmistress. This staff member was almost rude in her manner, won't be coming again .

I had somekind of salmon sandwich and it was the best sandwich I've ever had. We also order chocolate pastry and had it heated. That was good also.

This is a very appealing little space and overall breakfast was OK but not great. We shared a lovely fresh fruit and yogurt - very generous size. The croque Madame was disappointing as the poached egg was microwaved and dry. The cheese was a bit overpowering and ham so so. Served on Brioche was not to my liking. So the... More

Open at 8am, this was the perfect place for a lovely 'Parisienne Breakfast' , sitting outside watching the harbour wake up and the world go by. Excellent quality and variety of pastries, breads and fruit made for a delicious breakfast, enough to share. This tiny cafe and deli also does lovely sandwiches, pies and cakes! Try it, you won't be... More

Two large takeways cappucinoes came in at almost $12. They were very nice though, and they did have a nice little "complimentary" biscuit on top.

This is a small Cafe on the front of Akaroa. We popped in for a coffee. There food looked lovely and the service was very friendly. The coffee was amazing.

My wife and I and and our daughter went to the Escargot Rouge for breakfast on Sunday January 18 2015. I had a half strength long black and my wife has the Parisien breakfast. I thought my coffee was good. My wife liked her Parisien breakfast which was essentially a Croque Monsieur and a bowl of cafe au lait, with... More

Believe it or not but that is the English translation for L'Escargot Rouge! It is certainly an interesting shop and worth a visit.

We stumbled on this cafe while out walking. Followed someone who looked local and walked in. Immediate warm friendly atmosphere and great looking cabinet food. Great coffee! Soy latte and kids hot chocolate. Lovely muesli slice. Will go every day during our stay.
