Went here for breakfast with my partner, and had the best eggs Benedict I have ever eaten! Honestly delicious, great coffee and excellent prices - Will definitely be back!

The Stables is along one of the main streets of Akaroa and served a variety of sandwiches and pies together with hot food and both hot and cold drinks. The cafe was basic but perfectly adequate for a lunch time meal. We had an excellent beef casserole and a seafood chowder. Good coffee and nice service. Clean, tidy and efficient.

Our favourite breakfast when we've eaten too much the day before is muesli, yoghurt and fruit salad. This was one of the best we've tasted. The toasted muesli seemed home made, as did the yoghurt. There was plenty of freshly sliced fruit artfully arranged and honey was drizzled on the bowls' wide rims. The coffees were good too. Staff in... More

Great coffee and cakes. Clean but quirky. Staff polite and helpful. Toilets nice and clean. Lots of seats inside and out.

It never ceases to amaze me the sheer ignorance of people who work in hospitality or the food service industry. 'Hospitality', to be hospitable non? Just after 8am on a Wednesday morning in Akaroa we decided to venture into the Stables for a takeaway coffee and perhaps some home baking. As we walked up the path we noticed the lady... More

This restaurant really needs to lift its game. We ordered a chicken burger which you would presume for the price it would have chicken breast - but instead had crumbed - prefrozen chicken which you would see in a kids meal at the local hotel. Also the fish and chips tasted like prefrozen too. They don't have a kids meal,... More

Good value for money. Friendly service. Lacked a bit of atmosphere the night we went - only people there

Ordered the open steak sandwich and the chicken salad, but we can't tell you if it was any good as after 45 minutes we went back to the till to ask how much longer our food was going to be only to be told they had lost our order. Complete waste of time. We did get a refund on the... More

Did NYE drinks and countdown here. It was one of the few places that was open AND had a fantastic atmosphere - live band that keeps changing, huge outdoor seating area, walking distance to most accommodation options. There isn't a huge variety of drinks though, and it's self-service. Thought the staff could've been friendlier but I was there with my... More

Even though it was a busy Easter Sunday morning, with a largish party of 11 we were served in a reasonable time frame. The food was good and nicely presented. However no decaf coffee which is the only slight complaint. Lovely sitting outside in the sun with birds around.
