Good natured, intimate and knowledgeable

The only downside I would say is that the Whisper wine bar is not really a place you could go with a large crowd of friends, however, for that reason it creates a wonderfully intimate atmosphere. Yes it is small but that is nice compared to other establishments in the freo area. The wine list is... read more

We stopped by for a simple weekend drink. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The wine list isn't enormous but if you're up for trying something you haven't had before (maybe a slightly different blend or new winery) give this wine bar a go.

If you enjoy good wine in an informal and very welcoming, French, setting, take a few glasses at Whispers. The quality of the wines ate brilliant, and the service too, I actually madeastupid error when ordering second time - and when I realized it when I was served, the friendly and knowledgeable French owner changed it right away, with a... This is our 3rd visit to Whisper and again we were not disappointed by the excellent choice of wine they serve, we had the mixed platter accompanied with the Riesling...perfect for a summer's evening!! If you are lucky do try to get seating upstairs on the balcony so you can sit back and watch the world go by!

We went to Whispers after dinner for a quiet drink before heading home. The venue is very small and all of the seating and tables were taken downstairs. We headed upstairs where there are a few more seating areas to have a look at their menu. Unfortunately the upstairs lounge didn't have a lot of atmosphere - we felt quite... More

Whispers Wine Bar has an extensive range of wines. And the staff are extremely knowledgeable about all the different wines - a definite plus those who like to find out more about the wines they are consuming or about to consume. The food is simple - platters and baguettes. Simply fresh and lovely assortments of olives, cheeses, meats. So nothing... More

Came here for an Islay scotch with a few friends. As we enjoyed a drink, I mentioned that I would love to have a piece of dark chocolate with it. The owner overheard me and promptly left, returning with a big bar of fine chocolate which he gave me at no charge. Great service, nice authentic and French workers. Great... More

This place feels great. It's a charming, cosy little wine bar with open air seating downstairs and a lounge area upstairs. The welcome was a little stilted, we saw the wine list on the bar and got down to digesting it - I think three words of welcome were exchanged all up. The list is solid with some interesting wines,... More
