Fantastic Family run restaurant

My husband and I recently dined here after reading the reviews...we love local small,no fuss family run restaurants when travelling and casa Simao did not disappoint! Arrived at 730pm and by 8pm it was full of local families and not many tables available during the mid week. Service was... read more

The food here was absolutely freshly prepared and authentic local fare at a very reasonable price. Service was fast and efficient but still with a smile, and we didn't feel hurried. We both ate fish and it was same-day fresh, well prepared and plentiful. The place is full of locals and Portugese tourists which tells you that they're getting most... More

We were a group of 8 looking for a true Portuguese meal in a moderate price restaurant and came across Casa Simao while walking around town. It was a great find and it really appears to be a family run affair and one was made to feel right at home. There were many local people eating there so that is... More

We were looking for somewhere to have a tasty, inexpensive and authentically Portuguese lunch and found Casa Simao. It ticked all these boxes. The daily special was excellent value at €6 - generous portions and nicely cooked and presented. Our meal for two including the usual bread and olives, a lovely fresh tomato salad to accompany our main courses and... More

Large locals restaurant next door to os Arcos. Very busy, fast and efficient service average to good no nonsense value food.

We have been to Tavira many times and tried casa simao for the first time on a busy Portuguese public holiday. Full of locals having a good time, however food very basic, grilled fish or meat with chips and garnish. If you want cheap basic food of reasonable quality quickly, then fine, but absolutely no ambience or desire to spin... More

Good basic Portuguese food. The setting is next to the river and outside seating is provided, good for lunchtime. Internally it feels a bit cool, the waiters are very friendly and efficient. A nice meal but nothing special.

This place is great. When you pay 17.65€ for two people (half litre of wine, water, two plates of the day at 6€ each, plus a dessert to share), you can't complain about much! This fits the bill for standard Portuguese food at a good price served with pleasant service. They were happy to serve everyone (lots of lone diners... More

This was a nice find for us, and we took it as good sign the fact that it was mostly filled with local portuguese people at the time we went. Although the service was friendly and the food nice, the place was very cold. They should do something about this problem, because it would really enhance the experience.

The food was excellent and the fish was cooked perfectly and suited all of us. The house wine was good and the service was up to expectations. The only down side was how cold it was inside the restaurant as a section of glass wall in the entrance hall does not reach to the ceiling allowing cold air to come... More
