This little restaurant is very well fitted out with great decor and the food and service was excellent however the kitchen is situated immediately behind the seating area and the fumes from the deep frying or grilling gradually filled the room and by the time we finished our meal it was quite overpowering, in fact we could smell the cooking... In the winter closed Tavira, we took a good look at what restaurants we could choose from, and we where looking for something more than the average tourist-cafe. By the square, we found A Taska that had some good reviews, for my birthday dinner. The place is small, with only 18 seats - but very nicely contemporarily decorated with a... More

Excellent meal, beautifully presented, super Alentejo House Wine, lovely friendly service. In response to the French review, I travelled extensively in France on business and never once had a good steak. Good sauces in France tend to mask poor quality meat. Overall had MUCH better steaks in Portugal. Keep up the good work A Taska.

Ok the interior design is really neat, the atmosphere is great and exotic but chic as well, there is attention to detail (even the menu), the waiter is really nice (the boss lady not very smiling but we only had to deal with the German waiter) and the food is rather good but no way this is the best restaurant... Good idea to book ahead as many were turned away when we ate here. Our meals were delicious and there was a different menu which makes a change. The starters we had were bacon and dates and apple and goats cheese with apple and local jam both of which were yummy and the portions were not small. They were happy... More

Got very lucky finding this place. We walked in and got the last table available that night, and it sounded like they were booked up the rest of the weekend as well. House red wine was lovely. Both my husband and I got the steak with mushroom sauce, and both LOVED it. It did take quite a while to get... More

Managed to get a table for two in this small restaurant (18 seats) without booking and was not disappointed. The décor and the smell of the place is really nice for a start - quirky and colour coordinated. Throughout the welcome and service was excellent. It seems to be run by a couple where he is the chef and she... More

Having walked past this restaurant I called in to try and book a table. The chef who was lighting the latens outside told us to come back later. We returned 30 minutes later to be told by the chef that because of us (table of 4) he had to turn down a table of 7! Hardly our fault, this restaurant... More

Sorry my mood but as mentioned the restaurant is very small , and works with reservations , and it was suggested an hour and arrived 30 minutes later, all that interferes with good service , this is because there are people before and after. But I thank the comment. I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND .... THANKS More

A good thing about visiting Tavira slightly out of season is the ability to turn up at one of the best restaurants in town at 8 o'clock on a Saturday evening and be given a table immediately! Wee were so lucky because, as has been said many times before, this is a cosy little cracker. Cosy surroundings with friendly yet... More

Not typical Portuguese fayre - meat with very nice sauces. Presentation excellent - more like fine dining. Restaurant visually pleasing - quirky décor Tip: Small establishment - Need to book. Closed Tuesdays
