Our friends, who have a place in town, use this place regularly and took us along one evening when we were visiting them. Friendly intimate family atmosphere. Generous portions of varied menus, served by three, I think, ladies all bustling about. We enjoyed the bacalhau. Not expensive and the other reviewers have already filled in the useful details.

We have been there quite a few times now. The ladies serving are delightful and always smiling and willing to show you the dish of the day, which are generally delicious and plentiful - I can only ever manage a half portion. Husband has tried full portions but admitted that half was more than enough for him too. Wine inexpensive... More

Families and those travelling on a tight budget need to know about this friendly, family run cafe. The TV is always on. The 'Prato de Dia' is always a traditional Portuguese dish and served with plenty of chips, boiled potatoes or rice and salad. In one week I had, variously, chicken in a mushroom sauce, octopus salad, bacalhao in a cream... More

We continue to eat at this little cute place where the meals are prepared by the ladies. Grehaldo choice is a meat fest..there are always a couple of choices that are authentic Portuguese dishes....meio doces available and that is usually enough at lunch times. Great value for money...it's unbeatable. We shall keep going as we have done so for over... More

No frills tables or service but the waitress took us into the kitchen to see what was on. She helped us with Portuguese words and when the food came there was loads of pork in the oven with chips and rice. €4.80! Don't need to eat fancy every night. Looks over the river and Tavira lounge. The signal is strong

Caroline spotted this unlikely looking small restaurant which was actually very good value indeed. Simple, three-choice menu, served canteen style but excellent meal, with wine. The bill came to 8.80 Euros for the two of us. Highly recommended if you're at all budget conscious or if you want to experience where the locals eat.

We were staying nearby and on a cloudy morning decided to visit Tavira. I had a quick look online and found one mention of this place describing it as plain looking with great food were the locals ate – they were not wrong at all. After a morning sightseeing we headed to Tempero Caseiro for lunch. It is only one... More

Without doubt, this is where all the locals eat. We stunbled on it because it was adjacent to the rooms where we were staying and we noticed the daily menu board. Okay, the interior is functional but it's spotlessly clean and the service is top-notch. The ladies preparing, cooking and serving the food went out of their way to show... More
