Great Midday Value

It must be the number of British ex/pats in the Algarve that leads to the quantity of curry houses here. Tavira has at least three. Tried the Kohinoor at lunchtime and in the evening. The lunchtime special is superb value for money. Choice of curries , with half a naan, rice and salad. Choice of... read more

I've been to this restaurant on several occasions and found the food is generally ok. However, with the recent staff changes, the quality has dropped. So, inconsistency lets this place down. This used to be the best Indian in Tavira. Now I'm not so sure .... Time will tell

Really enjoyed our lunch here - lamb and chicken dishes under 7e. Nice have some food with spice in it. Much of Portuguese food too bland and salty. Dishes came with rice, nan and salad. Reasonably priced drinks, Not much in the way of atmosphere but friendly service,

We are not that keen on indian cuisine, but we heard good things from a couple of friends about this particular restaurant, so we decided to have a go. The indian bread was absolutely delicious, and the spices on the food and sauces was very balanced and pleasant.

So it was January and not very busy and it could have been warmer a recurring theme throughout our stay this time. The food across the four different meals we had was of the highest standard and very tasty and as we are from the North West we have considerable experience of Asian food. This was amongst the best we... More

This was our second visit and the food was good both times. On the first occasion the pappadums were rather limp but this time they were nice and crispy. We did ask for the extra pickles though as they are only served with a couple of sauces. I don´t like food too spicy and their mild ´heat´ was just that.... More

We go to Tavira many times in a year and eat in lots of Restaurants all good, However the Kohinoor Indian has got to be the best Indian food we have had in Tavira .The restaurant has a large menu and best of all for us a lunch menu with smaller portions and the price to match around 5.50 euro... We've tried out all the Indian restaurants in Tavira and this one is our favourite - We recommend all the madras curries, lamb rogan josh and garlic naan bread. Staff are always courteous and welcoming.

The food is nice, portions are decent, prices are ok, and the atmosphere not very Indian but never mind. However, they bring you nan bread even if you've not asked for any, then you eat it thinking it's free but it's not and you get charged, so that's a bit deceptive...
