Excellent food

Me and my colleagues had lunch here, and all of us were very satisfied with everything we ate. Soup was tasteful, served in original way (two in one), main dish was great but desert was something really special. This small and cosy restaurant is worth to visit.

Slow service, main ingredients of several meals were not available, no cold beer. Been there right after the Saturday market closed. Only few guests sat outside. Took a while after we were recognised as new guests. Our table was not cleaned. There was only a menu for food, none for drinks. After we decided for a starter and a main... More

You can be amazed by arhitecture and the place where "Māja" is, but you will not be disappointed when you will go in. The inside enviroment is cosy, it is not agressive or fancy our neither gaudy. It is like old native latvian country side home or some can say even it's a latvian summer house in Jurmala. First when... More

Delicious food, beautifully prepared. I had the red deer Carpaccio with arugula. We visited on a Saturday during the local market, a sight in itself. The restaurant is in a wooden house, décor is homely thus Majas, which means home in Latvian. Pleasant atmosphere, courteous servers.

Very sweet servers. Elegant menu. Some of our part's food was under cooked, some was underwhelming in terms of seasoning. We were there for lunch but ordered main entrees so perhaps the regular chef was not there that early but we were disappointed. The adjacent Saturday market and the lady who operates the traditional merrigoround made our trip to the... More

Ate here last week, had the veal carpaccio to start, very delicate, followed by the veal cheeks, melted in your mouth. Pudding excellent white chocolate cheesecake. All accompanied by a decent Pinot noir, good selection of wines, no list but you can go and look at them on display and take a taster. Food in this region can sometimes be... More

The restaurant was selling ready prepared rice with beef but we ordered off the menu. I had salmon on spinach with Nasturtium and strawberry and my partner had veal burger and fries. The food was tasty but the best part of the meal was the fresh juice. The waitress was sweet. The bill came to 35 euro

The Maja is certainly a pretty restaurant in an area of Riga a little off the beaten track. We went there for a special meal as it is certainly more expensive than many good restaurants in Riga. We were hugely disappointed. Be very careful that you get what you order. My dish had none of the items which were supposed... More

We went to see the famous wooden houses, but it was difficult to see them, because there was a market between the houses. It was a very hot day, so we sat down to have something to drink. The beer was good. We sat outside, and I only went inside to use the lavatory. The inside looked very nice.
