This place was truely fantastic. Nice decor, good service, very reasonable prices and the food... big portions of delicious meat dishes and sweet homebrewed beer to go with it. The combinition of the 1kg fat and greasy pork hock and cranberry beer was to die for! Don't go there if you're on a diet.

Nice pub and good food. Friendly people and not expensive. Traditional food. Very busy. Live music sometimes.

The most friendly restaurant/pub that I visited in Latvia. Good prices and a great selection of local beers.

Nice atmosphere, amazing typical food, good service and very cheap. Beer, some entrance, a (big) main dish and half desert = 14€.

This place is really nice great atmosphere good food and delicious beers .But they need more staff the staff working there work really hard but there isn't enough staff and as a result a lot of people walk out without being served. had to ask for the bill three times .which it a pity because it's a really nice place... My boyfriend and I ended up eating at Ala for three of the four nights we were in Riga. The food there is yummy and so cheap! Would highly recommend the Latvian garlic bread (which we tried because of another reviewer's recommendation), risotto and the 1kg pork hock (we shared it). The cider on tap is beautiful too. We also... More

This is probably the best cost benefit in Riga Old Town. The place has a great medieval atmosphere, the food is excellent and you can choose among a couple of kinds of beer to have it with. Depends on the night you might even be able to witness a live Folk Latvian live music on the Stage. Don't miss it... More

From outside does not seem like much.Inside you enter downstairs into a huge very atmospheric cavern.Wide range of cheap quality beer and excellent food.LIve folk group at night makes it a busy place.Mixed age of crowd creates great vibe.Lovely place.Wear your layers it gets very warm in there.

Funky underground folk club, with lots and lots of Latvian beer on draft and great food. We had the beer drinkers sampler- between two - and decided we were full enough to go straight to dessert. Latvian garlic bread is fab! And the fried cottage cheese dessert was pretty much like a donut - couldn't taste any cheese, but it... More
