A great find

Downstairs, and down a bit of a corridor this was a great find for our first night in Riga. Sat at the bar for several hours enjoying the atmosphere and drinking very reasonably priced drinks, with great service. It's more a folk club & underground bar than a restaurant but that said - really authentic experience, superb atmosphere, great range of beer, food excellent, amazing value

Good food and beer for little money. Recommend the mead and jacket potato with vegetables. Busy dinnertime, book a table.

My partner and I visited twice, on Wednesday and Friday when there was live music, which made for a cracking atmosphere. The traditional latvian food was excellent, particularly the meatballs and the sautéed pork. Portions are very generous, especially the garlic bread (You don't need one each). There's a huge range of latvian beers and the staff will happily recommend... More

We were recommended to go here by our tour guide and it was a brilliant suggestions. Its down in a beer cellar and its full of atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and the service was good. The portions are massive so don't worry about ordering more than one dish. Plus the cranberry beer is delicious. A really cool... More

we went to this place for lunch, and we liked it so much that we went back the same evening! the atmosphere is lovely: it is very well mantained, and it seems to enter in a tavern as it was in the middle ages; but at the same time it is newly renovated with a great care for comforts and... More

One of the best experiences I've ever had in my travels! The place is a local and tourist hangout and gets very busy but staff was very friendly, helped us get a table. Some reviews complain about long wait for service- it gets very busy and reserving a table will help make sure you get seated and the servers know... More

Wonderful cellar bar and restaurant. We turned up without a reservation but a quick ask at the bar got us a table. Waitress was lovely and knowledgable, explaining the dishes (grey peas were awesome) and recommending beers. The food was all so good and such excellent value. Live music was great to experience. Perfect evening!

A very nice and very central restaurant with very tasty food at great value. Staff was very friendly and spoke good English too, though getting your food actually took a little bit of time - which is fair, because the place is pretty big and it was crowded, so no complaints here. As for drinks: try their honey beer -... More

I was convinced by a group of locals I'd met at another bar to come with them for a late drink at the Folkklub. It felt a bit odd following people I'd just met to a night club, but I was very glad that I did! The environment is lovely and feels very authentic. The staff were friendly, and brought... More
