the best place to try national beer

if you'd like to taste the national beer and don't know where to go, it's the right place))plus, you can listen to national Latvian music and dance. Sometimes, you can catch bands there

We were invited to join colleagues of my husband at the Ala Folkklub, I was apprehensive, I thought it would be a cheesy tourist trap. I was totally wrong, not only was this place in an amazing location, in a medieval basement, with barrel ceilings and a warren of rooms, but it was full of locals have a great time.... More

At first it was full so we made a reservation for 11 people for the next day. The food was very good and cheap. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice!

This place was basically recommended by everyone we have spoken to, friends that have been to Riga before, the guys at the hostel and also the guides at the free walking tour, which by the way is awesome. The food was excellent, the atmosphere traditionally quaint and service super nice. I can recommend the traditional bread pudding, so good!

Great service, affordable and good food but if this really is top place for Riga then I'm disappointed in the city. Interior and atmosphere was dull.

An amazing restaurant/bar in a large beautifully decorated basement. The food is great (anything pork is excellent) and so is the beer. So good we went back three times!

I went there after midnight. To have a party with my friends. People there were freeeking me out. Deffinatelly not a "club" party place. More like for younger people with less paid jobs living on a tight cash. A place to get drunk kinda. Never will go there again. But it's just me.

Only went there for drinks since we didn't get a table for dinner during the entire weekend. Atmosphere of the place is really nice and authentic. Highly recommend to make a table reservation in advance if you want to eat there.

Went Friday night when there was live music....boy was it lively! Good choice of beer, decent menu though I wasn't too impressed at the food; it was hearty and the portions were massive! Great music and everyone was up dancing. Give it a go for somewhere different, you won't be dissappointed!

Dropped by hear cause of all the awesome reviews in Tripadvisor. It was walking distance from our hotel so that was a plus. It's located on the basement of this building and deep inside. You will love the decor. Brings you back in time. We started off with the cranberry beer and black currant beer; both were superb! I loved... More
