We had grey peas in a loaf of bread and honey roasted pig knuckle. With the excellent Latvian beer. All in a classic cellar, in a part of the Old Town that is a bit away from the tourist traps. And after 21.00 they even have a music and dance show.

Very nice place to eat. The location is underground and tucked away off the beaten path. Very affordable with authentic Latvian choices. Great service with great music!

This place was truely fantastic. Nice decor, good service, very reasonable prices and the food... big portions of delicious meat dishes and sweet homebrewed beer to go with it. The combinition of the 1kg fat and greasy pork hock and cranberry beer was to die for! Don't go there if you're on a diet.

The most friendly restaurant/pub that I visited in Latvia. Good prices and a great selection of local beers.

Nice atmosphere, amazing typical food, good service and very cheap. Beer, some entrance, a (big) main dish and half desert = 14€.

This place is really nice great atmosphere good food and delicious beers .But they need more staff the staff working there work really hard but there isn't enough staff and as a result a lot of people walk out without being served. had to ask for the bill three times .which it a pity because it's a really nice place... My boyfriend and I ended up eating at Ala for three of the four nights we were in Riga. The food there is yummy and so cheap! Would highly recommend the Latvian garlic bread (which we tried because of another reviewer's recommendation), risotto and the 1kg pork hock (we shared it). The cider on tap is beautiful too. We also... More
