Excellent Latvian food

excellent Latvian food at sensible prices. Good menu with plenty of choice - I had rabbit for a main course as I wanted something authentic (superb) and also had the Latvian black balm (not so good). Located in the centre of town and makes a big change from getting ripped off.

The service is the reason for a 5 (if you have a different waiter then the score may vary - food is a 4) We had a starter/pud to share, bread, veg a pork dish and traditional dumplings and a great bottle of Malbec €60.70 Waiter looked after the whole establishment with ease, food was traditional, tasty and good portions.... We had a long transit in Riga on our way to Milan so decided to make a visit to the old town.It was cold so when we saw the menu,we decided to give it a try. Latvian local food is the brown beans and the rye bread. The ambiance is cosy and quaint. We ordered the pork knuckle and their specialty... More

Visited the place twice,. Food was equally good and full of taste. High level Baltic/Latvian dishes. Service friendy. Small place so it may be difficult to get a table. Decoration (various old farm style things all over) was a bit tooo much but pretty cosy nevertheless. You are more or less at the most central tourist location in Old Riga... More

This was a very enjoyable meal indeed, nice to find an authentic Latvian restaurant, totally agree with Max P that this is not a tourist trap but great food at a great price. I would thoroughly recommend a meal here

As previously reviewed, this looks like it could be a tourist trap. We gave into our hunger and decided to go. WOW! It so did not disappoint! Tasty, reasonably priced, and we would be remiss not to mention the FANTASTIC wait staff! Come here and enjoy!

At the first glance the restaurant may look like a classical tourist trap, but when you come inside you realize there is a honest attempt to create an authentic Latvian atmosphere. The staff is very pleasant and professional. The prices are absolutely reasonable. I enjoyed just sitting there.

A good menu! You can decide between starters, soups, meals with meat, fish or vegetarian and sweet dishes. You have a selection of drinks. But not too much of all, so you can find what you like without reading the menu for hours. ;-) And the food is very tasty!!! The service was quite good! Very friendly people and also... More

Quite a short menu, but worth trying. We ordered soups and main courses, as well as the drinks. The meal was great and the staff was very friendly. Cosy (small) place with nice food. English and russian languages - no problem. The prices are average - 2 soups, 2 mains and drinks - we had to pay about 34 EUR.
