"Salve" - a restaurant that represents Riga city cuisine There's no better way to express the uniqueness of the people, its habits and tastes than through national cuisine. Restaurant Salve offers a taste of traditional Latvian cuisine in an elegant city manner. Restaurant Salve, which is located in the historic Blue Guard House which is part of the complex of the House of Blackheads on the Town Hall Square - the heart of Old Riga - is the right place to look for exquisite cuisine and enjoy the specialties of the capital. We offer to appraise the elegant and at the same time cozy atmosphere of the restaurant with a fine Dutch style interior to all citizens of Riga and its guests. Internationally trained chefs and waiters guarantee exquisite food flavor and high service standards. In Latin, "Salve" means - "Welcome!" Which excellently reflects the essence of the restaurant, as each guest is gladly welcome there.

Good traditional food and great atmosphere

We had dinner here last month - sat outside because it was a lovely evening. The menu is a bit eclectic, with mostly Baltic and some Russian entrees (some items like pork knuckle are pretty international). Our entrees were very good, as was my husband's Latvian beer (Alderis, I think). Service... read more

I came here on a visit to Riga with my mum and brother, who were in the Latvian capital for the first time; I must have been here half-a-dozen times (I live in Estonia). I'd never been to Salve before but liked the sound of it, and none of us were disappointed. The dishes were anything but exotic for me,... More

Have been here 2 times. First time we had a very good pork knuckle as a main and second time I tasted my dates duck and it was very good. At the same time my pelmeni (meat dumplings) were very ordinary and they were too few in the portion. Service was really friendly but it took really long for us... More

We were a group, and have booked in advance. The menu was simple and very local. The worst thing was the wine, so we asked for the winelist and found another. We had to pay for the wine we had accepted in advance, because they had opend it. The pricelevel does'nt compare with the quality of wine or food.

This was the first restaurant we tried out in Riga and, given it's in a very touristy area, we weren't really sure what to expect and didn't go in with very high expectations. But the service was really good from the get-go. Friendly staff and a neat concept of offering to take a picture for you and email it to... More

Got to say, Salve is a very efficient restaurant. We were never without service and the food was delivered very fast. Downside was that the waiters' rush kind of affected us too - felt like we had to choose our menus fast (menu was very slow to read). I ate sauerkraut soup and fishcakes. Not bad, but I expected more... More

Fairly heavy, Latvian Cuisine. Ask before you order. Some dishes are, let's say, "unusual", Liked the sauerkraut soup the best. If they are filled up, there are 2 more restaurants by the same owner nearby.

Looked after by Andre, couldn't have been more attentive and friendly, look after this one - he's a star! Would certainly return and... More

I had so much fun here! Another restaurant that is decorated adorably and it had great traditional Latvian food. The salmon cakes were so good and the grey peas were one of my favorites! We also got the black bread soup for dessert - it was amazing! Highly recommend for a Latvian experience!

The restaurant was expecting a large group the night we went so we were very lucky to have reserved one of the last tables. We saw several couples being turned away but the staff did so very graciously and were genuinely apologetic for turning them away. Our waiters, Evgeny and Andre, were superb, very attentive, and took the time to... More
