Had a nice meal here one night in February. Small restaurant, tables were all occupied (good sign) so I sat at the large community table. Good food and service, good drinks. Excellent garlic soup in a bread bowl, perfect for a cold night. Very large portions even by Hungarian standards.

I was taken here with a large party and arriving quite late in the evening service was so slow we were there till very late. When the food eventually arrived we were served a wooden trough piled high with food to be shared among a group of people. For most people it was difficult to reach, a bit dark so... More

Many dishes or how they are served (e.g. a meat dish with both, french fries and rice) may be unusual for the western European palate but hearty and enjoyable. There is something for every one - even vegetarians. Out of this world was their (non-vegetarian) Lecsó but also the meat dishes we tried were enjoyable. Portions are sizeable, so if... More

Onoe of the best restaurant in Sopron, easily to reach and park. The staff are very friendly, service is very fast, foods (traditional Hungarian and continental ones) are well prepared and fresh. S Prices a little bit high, but not in the city, which mostly gets used to the Austrian customers, since the daily menu is cheap, 2,5 EUR. You... More

We've just returned to our hotel so the experience is really fresh. Our first impression was great as the interior design and overall atmosphere was pleasant we got sit to our table. When opening the menu card (rather a book) you find a really lengthy list of different food, that's why we've ordered from the seasonal offerings: 1) pumpkin cream... More

The place is lovely, and is very close to the city center. The building has an interesting history as in old times the Ice from the close by lake was stored in an underground pit under this building, and distributed in the city in worm days. The pit is visible today through a glass door, and from the restaurant ground... More

We visited the restaurant for a lunch after recommendation from locals. The premises are welcoming. All of our party choose different dishes. The portions were big (maybe too big - as at many restarants in Hungary) and all of us were fully satisfied with the quality and taste.

There are many excellent restaurants in Sopron and The Jégverem (Ice cave) is one of the better ones - I live very local to Sopron and often eat out in the city. Pros: big portion size and good choice of food - Cons: It takes an age for the food to turn up (speaking from 3 times this has happened... More

We ate at Jegverem for a number of reasons: 1) Lonely Planet recommended it, 2) it was right across the street from our pension, 3) it was one of the few places still open! The Lonely Planet said that it serves large portions and this is no lie. We didn't come close to finishing anything. Do NOT get appetizers here... More
