Great surroundings, but expensive. Make sure you get what you ask for. We asked for Whiskey and hot water but got a cold bottled water-which was added to the bill.

... and nearly did, it being so difficult to catch the waiter's eye! That aside, as everyone else says, a really beautiful place that had me awestruck. Lovely just to sit and look. The cakes are the kind you can get all around Budapest, but there is something more special about them in such opulent surroundings. I wanted to try... More

We were really looking forward to our visit to the New York café, having heard excellent reviews about it elsewhere. Sadly, we were somewhat disappointed. Whilst the building itself is truly beautiful, we felt that the service and quality of the drinks did not match up to this. The lady who sat us was unfriendly and unable to crack a... More

this cafe is so pretty. its full of shiny decore, paintings, gold, stunning funitures and mirrors. the place reeks of class. the menu is a bit simple and the food maybe a bit too fancy when it comes to tast. this is a place that looks totaly different from any other in Budapest. and its really worth the experience just to... You have to go, really. It is inside the New York Palace, today is a Boscolo. If you want to feel like a royal have a breakfast there or a tea, or a drink. The atmosphere inside is perfect . Plenty of choices , the price just correct.

We went to see the famous New York Cafe and weren't disappointed. The architecture is fabulous. The coffee and cakes are naturally overpriced but very nice. We did the obvious tourist thing and had coffees with the house cake selection platter. It cost about £15, but we saw it as an attraction as much as a cafe and were happy... More

This is possibly one of the most luxurious places I have ever had coffee. Not to be missed it definitely lives up to the hype.

We went here after reading about it in all the guide books, I had a hot chocolate and my husband had a cappuccino, both were really nice and came with a couple of little biscuits and water. The thing that was disappointing for us was that you have such a beautiful building with lovely ornate ceilings but then the table... More

We visited whilst in Budapest celebrating a birthday. The New York cafe is owned by the Boscolo luxury hotel group in is the jewel in its crown. The building is simply spectacular and harks back to a bygone age of beauty and elegance. From entering you are assailed by the most beautiful frescoes, Venetian chandeliers and gilded stoccoes, enough to... More

We did not stay here but had afternoon tea/coffee and cakes. The room was opulent and luxurious. That is the only thing one would come for. The cakes and beverages were very average albeit served on very nice crockery and cutlery. The service was "meh". The bill came to HUF8970 (USD37) for one coffee, one tea, one 0.33L bottle of...
