Lovely looking restaurant but the service is very poor. Waited for 20 minutes to be served. Waited another 15 minutes before we were served. Ordered a vanilla milkshake that was was pure cream and no vanilla. Asked for a replacement and got a glass of milk - a clear 'Get stuffed' from the kitchen. Probably the worst milkshake ever. Why... We dropped by on a late Saturday evening with no reservations for some coffee and tea. I admit their walls and ceilings are fancy and look royal, but their service and drinks are anything but. The wait itself wasn't too long, but once we were seated the staff that came by were quite rude and cocky. Since we were seated... More

Simply elegant and totally memorable. Google the history of this building. This is an example of true old world elegance.

Very relaxing place to dine in - building and decor could not be bettered. Possible to drop in for a coffee and a cake or have a full meal. Staff very well mannered, polite and disciplined - only fault is with other customers and their antics with selfies and photographing their food.

Inspired by a Hungarian coffee family dynasty, the New York Cafe provides a glimpse of a by-gone era when poets, writers and musicians would gather for coffee and inspiring conversation. A most elegant interior offers a glorious place for an expresso or a full meal. Enjoy!!

We waited more than 1 hour for just a cup of hot tea, asked for staffs more than 4 times but still not coming. Staffs are very perfunctory. Even though, you still have to paid more than 15% of the tip

I found out about this restaurant from one of the brochures at our hotel, and immediately made sure we had at least one meal here. The brochure claimed that this was the 'most beautiful cafe in the world' and i can't argue with them! This restaurant was breathtaking, and luckily we were able to get a table for dinner even... An elegant setting to have an evening meal. The food here was delicious. Having 2 vegetarians in our party sometimes menus are limited but the staff were very helpfull explaining the dishes. The best tagliatelle I have ever had and the deserts were amazing.

We went in for a coffee and a cake / icecream... but mainly because a friend told us the interior is worth it. And it is : a very chique, old-style interior. Make the detour, it is worth it./ And the coffee and dessert too :)

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
