Their website offered several types and styles of Hungarian fish soup (halászlé), but in fact, they are all cooked as one basic soup then enriched by different indigredients. Disappointing. Also, the quite great choice of other meals and drinks is acceptable, just simply nothing special. We expected more from the restaurant that is proud of its history (founded in 1955).

We had lunch here not long after arriving. Food was nice, especially the gulash soup. Service was ok, quite quick but a seemed a little hurried. They don't (or least when were there) accept credit cards.

I've read reviews of terrible service, but we had excellent service here. We split the fish soup and the trout - both of which were quite good. I have not had fish soup in other hungarian restaurants so I can't compare. The trout was great - very meaty and moist.

This was where we had our first meal in Budapest and it was very nice. The place had a nice quiet atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. My wife and I both had fish dinners that were delicious.

We've been there for lunch because it's one of the few places where you can eat near the castle but it didn't live up to its position. First of all we had to wait for more than 30 minutes for our order because a couple of friend of the manager showed up and they finished their lunch before we even... More

I am not sure if it his nature or because I am a woman dining alone but I did not feel very welcomed at this restaurant. Funny thing was I had gone there the night before walking about 2 miles only to find out they don, t take credit cards. But I read it wad quite good so I returned... More

During the years I have visited this place a number of times. I always know what to expect, fish soup is better than the average in the city, otherwise food is kind of average, the place is quite touristy. The waiters are old fashioned, slightly arrogant (just to make sure you have the 70's and 80's feeling, when courteous service... More

The Angler's Farm is a nicely decorated and atmospheric old restaurant close to the Buda waterfront. Very good pike perch (fogas) and other Hungarian staples. The only problem is the vast majority of Budapest eateries and cafes accept credit cards and visitors perhaps unreasonably but unsurprisingly expect that everywhere will. Our party of eight received the rude shock of the... More
