next to Opera

excellent location next to the Opera house. Price/performance ratio good. Food really fine and typical for the region. Service friendly.

We stopped into this place as we walked past because it looked very nice and we felt like an upscale meal. A beautiful restaurant, it appeared promising but proved to be a disappointment right away. Here's a list- -The homeless guy staring down customers as they ate on the patio. He moved from table to table standing close to customers... More

It was a big heat wave when we had lunch and ate outside. It was the only option as the air conditioning either did not exist inside or was broken. The water sprays provided little relief and we were subject to all the smokers outside. The menu was better than the food and the service was spotty but could be... More

Callas Cafe and Restuarant proved to be a really excellent dining experience. The menu was extensive and the food quality and presentation faultless. Wine list also very good. The ambience was somewhere between a restuarant and cafe, but in a very pleasant and inviting old world decor. A lovely addition was a small orchestra group playing in the background. The... More

Very handy location next to the Opera house. Had a tasty tapas lunch of seafood whilst waiting for our tour. Service was good.

Food is definitely great there. Good and high class selection of lamb, meat and other good things. Also affordable for that kind of location (next to the Opera). The service could be more perceptive and a bit more friendly. No extra offers such as "pepper" etc. also not questions for tea or coffee at the end.

First off, by Hungarian standards, this is an expensive restaurant. By US standards, you could pay the same at an Outback Steakhouse, for much less interesting food. This is like eating at a much fancier restaurant in the US, but with larger portions and Outback prices. The prices are comparable to touristy restaurants along the Danube and Váci, but the... More

Enjoyed a pleasant evening dinner with a 3 piece combo playing very nice music. Food was very good and the beer, Hungarian, was even better. Right across from the entrance to the Opera House and across the boulevard from an underground station.

Looked very nice from the outside, I had well over 50 minutes to have breakfast before departing for a bike tour (literally right round the corner) I was however very late for my tour due to slow service. I ordered the Hungarian Scrambled Eggs which were very watery and not well seasoned. Also the "English" Breakfast tea tasted like swiss... More
