Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993 and has since delighted the dwellers of our city with delicacies of Greek cuisine and delicious wine of its vineyards. The air is filled with the fragrance of char-grilled meats and fishes, fresh-cut vegetables and crispy-baked homestyle bread. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, diners chit-chat casually around the tables, which blends pleasantly into the melodies of Greek music playing in the background. It is good to be in this restaurant. When I visit and review an establishment favorably, I like to return 1) to see if it is consistently good and 2) to sample other menu items which caught my attention. Such was the case this time and the experience was memorable again on both counts. This time we were seated indoors despite making reservations well in advance. It was... More

It has been 2 years since we have eaten here and it only got better in that time frame. I still feel like we are eating in Santorini. We tried to go one night (with reservations) but found the restaurant closed because of torrential rains and lack of power. Bill, not sure if owner or manager, felt so badly for... More

It is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Budapest. The location is absolutely stunning during the warm weather season, by seating beside the gorgeous river of Danube and looking at the Buda side. I have never ever had any dish there which was not superb. You feel like you were in Greece, in a Mediterranean place yet you have... More

I was there this evening with my family (including 3 and 5 year old children), based on its trip advisor ranking as one of the top child friendly restaurants in Budapest. I didn't see any reviews mentioning how it was child friendly, but decided to give it a go. It didn't go well at all... The food was excellent, as... More

Dear Adrew, Our restaurant has everything from high chairs and plastic cups to coloring pages and a kids menu with a few diferent options. We also offer private rooms for breast feeding mothers and changing areas for babies. In addition, during the winter season we have a kids playroom with toys and a babysitter. Lastly we give a toy to... More

Not the cheapest in Budapest, but good quality food with decent sized proportions. Makes you feel like you're on an exotic Greek island!

A week ago, while visiting Budapest with my family we decided to have lunch at Taverna Dionysos. The restaurant is inviting and beautiful. We were greeted by a smiling, friendly worker who showed is to a very comfortable table. There were so many delicious sounding options, we had trouble deciding. My husband and I finally decided to share the Dionysos... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
