Description: Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993...
Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993 and has since delighted the dwellers of our city with delicacies of Greek cuisine and delicious wine of its vineyards. The air is filled with the fragrance of char-grilled meats and fishes, fresh-cut vegetables and crispy-baked homestyle bread. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, diners chit-chat casually around the tables, which blends pleasantly into the melodies of Greek music playing in the background. It is good to be in this restaurant. The pampering feeling of authentic entertainment accompanies the guests from the moment they enter up until they leave. We hope you visit us soon so that we may entertain you for a few hours here in little Greece of Budapest!

Hidden Gem in Budapest

Very helpful staff and Dimitrio and Attila in particular attended to our every need. This Restaurant has an extensive menu and caters for vegetarians which sets it apart from the other Restaurants visited in Budapest. Great atmosphere and very busy so would recommend a prior booking.

Had a lovely table outside, sun was shining, protected from the wind by screens, not the greatest view but nice atmosphere with Greek music playing, excellent service and first class Greek food and wines, etc. Inside the decor was perfectly Mediterranean and it felt like we were relaxing on a Greek island! Highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant twice. Now and two years ago. The staff is extremely friendly. The menu offers Greek food but also other things. We specially liked the tzatziki with some bread. (Ordered it twice) There is a English menu available. After we left we walked to our car (parked a few km away) it had a break in. We... More

This restaurant is just by the banks of the Danube and churns out super tasty Greek food. You should pick a place outside ... So a reservation helps. But you can always do a walk in as well. The interiors reminds of you of vintage Greece with the furniture and walls done up in shades of white and blue. The... More

This restaurant was recommended by Rick Steves, and we're glad we visited. Along the banks of the Danube, this restaurant had a great atmosphere with wonderful fresh fish.

This was the best food we had - and yes, it is Greek food. This is a lovely, quiet restaurant. The food was delicious, fresh, and the presentation was awesome! Such a treat!

Good food! Good service. Very helpful staff. Close to the river. Ask for a seat outside. It is best to have reservations. But you can walk in and eat too.

My wife and I had a truly wonderful dining experience at Taverna Dionysos. I use the term "experience" advisedly because from the moment we sat down until we left we were treated royally in a delightful Danube setting. This restaurant sits between the Liberty bridge (Szabadsag hid) and the Erzsebet hid on the Pest side, not far from the Vaci... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
