Description: Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa...that is the Sicilian cook and Sicilian table. According to a Roman saying this is the secret to a healthy life. They came, saw and conquered: the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Angevins, Hapsburgs, the Bourbons...Yes, every one of them! All these people, they left something in Sicily - Trinacria, for example, belonging to Greek mythology, the Gorgon in the middle and the three legs as tips to protect the island. The Arabs, skilled breeders of goats and lambs, and with them their milk, processed caciocavallo, provola pecorino. The testimony of the Saracens from the "sweet tooth" in Sicily is a legacy left by the nuns who handed down the memory, and it is thanks to them that today we have the real dough, cassata and Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa "cannoli". With the succession of all these peoples, Sicily today has a very diverse cultural heritage, that leaves a lasting impression for life, the memories of all those travelers who have had the opportunity and the chance to visit it. Between the oleanders and colorful bougainvillea, under the shade of the thick foliage of olive trees, savoring the delicacies of Sicilian cuisine, including fresh fish of the sea, the warm sun that enriches and gives an unmistakable flavor to fruits and vegetables, sipping her wine noblest, is unforgettable. Equally memorable are the inhabitants of this fantastic island, famous for their warm welcome and availability, full of life, with their kindling a sense of humor, with the inimitable "coppola" placed on their heads, with a joyful noise you preach good appetite. This atmosphere we are ready to offer here in Budapest! "Baciamo le mani!"(kind of typical Sicilian regards) Salvo Sgroi and La Coppola Team

Just returned from a great weekend celebrating my partners 40th (who is a bit of a fussy eater !!!!) but we ended up at La Cappola 3 nights out of 4. The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic.

We went here during our weekend Budapest and were welcomed by the friendly staff. The restaurant was cosy and the Italian hams were hanging on the wall. We had the pizza La Coppola, which was very tasteful with a variety of fresh ingredients. One piece of advice might be that the view from the outside could be more inviting (by... More

Small portions but amazing food. Would definitely come again. Really close to the city centre. Had some nice vegetarian options too.

Not my 1st time at La Coppola - the previous time the owner replied to my negative post. This time, the restaurant excelled itself. We were a large group with a late booking. The waiter provided great service, the food was great, the kids were happy. More please!

Let me first start by stating that ever too often i heard raving critics about this restaurant, so i was really looking forward to spending new years eve here! Got there at eight and after a warm welcome drinks were served swiftly. We were able to choose between two set menus, fish or meat. I chose meat. After one hour... More

This was a good Italian restaurant, not as good as the Hungarian restaurants we enjoyed in Budapest, but it was a nice change. We came here for a simple dinner and that is what we had. We ordered the Monteverdi Montepulciano wine, which was very good, and the lasagne al forno (home-made lasagna with Bolognese sauce). The lasagne was delivered... More

After a decent start with the appetizer and the first course, things spiraled downward. The pasta as well as the next course, filet, was sunk in a creamy sauce. The dessert was a decent mess. Overall the waiters tried hard to be on schedule and deliver a good experience but the food wasn't enough to meet my expectations. The quality... More

Party of four visiting for lunch based on trip adviser reviews. Had high hopes as the venue is nice and the waiting staff attentive. However food is what counts most to me. My starter was nice...but my main was absolutely terrible...an oily inedible Tagliatelle ai Porcini. This was mentioned to waiting staff, however still charged full price for something that... More

We found friendly and attentive service at this place, and a nice ambience and setting. The menu offers what one would expect of a mid range Italian restaurant: a solid decent choice of antipasti, pastas, carne, and seafood. The veal Marsala I had was just that: plain simple decent, nice. The lasagna was a bit of perfunctory cooking, but not... More

Very good place, in the heart of the city. We were here the second time. Now the meals as always were delicious, but the waiter and the service was this time something different. The waiter was unfriendly, like we and our order is a problem for him. For the food I think we gonna go back- even it's a bit... More
