Wonderful family run restaurant!

This is a small, but lovely little restaurant run by a family. The wife was doing the cooking/baking and the husband was our waiter/host. He was most helpful with picking out wine and food. Infact, when I wanted to have something (chicken paprika) that was not on the menu, he checked with his... read more

Restaurant has a lovely, cosy feel to it as soon as you walk in. Waiters are very attending and friendly, and know everything about the food and wine that they serve - also very willing to tell you about it if interested! We had a 3 course set meal and wine between 3 for about £20 each which was definitely... More

Found this friendly little place after reading on trip advisor, I booked ahead while still in the UK. It is a small friendly family run restaurant with 8 tables. What can I say except it was the best meal we have had in Budapest. It's a little out the way but was worth the 20 minute walk from our hotel.... More

we had a nice meal in this restaurant, nice wine, decent food and very friendly service. There is definitely nothing wrong with it, but i think i had higher expectations because of previous reviews on trip advisor. I would recommend it, but don't expect it to be outstanding, just solid, decent food for fair price. We turned up without reservation... More

Not a bad word to say about this place - a gem of a restaurant and a must to go whilst staying in Budapest! A family run restaurant (wife and uncle in the kitchen and husband front of house). Kalman (the owner alongside his wife Erika) were extremely friendly and Kalman had a great knowledge of the menu and of... More

Four of us dined here last night and had the best meal since arrival in Budapest 5 days ago. A family run restaurent providing Hungarian cuisine. It has a reasonably small menu, which is always a good sign. We had four different mains , and all plates were returned to kitchen totally clean! That's normally quite a feat between four... More

We visited Chef Cafe last night for my birthday and were extremely impressed. The cold and hot starters were lovely and varied and gave us an opportunity to try lots of Hungarian sausage, meats and even liver. We then had the steak, which was cooked to perfection, and the deer stew. Perhaps my favourite course however was the chocolate pudding... More

When we travel we look for small family owned restaurants. This one is amazing. The uncle cooks, mom does appetizers and desserts, dad serves and hosts and the son cooks as well Fine food, great service at a reasonable price. Highly recommend

Beautiful restaurant. The food was so tasty. Everything was so lovingly prepared. The manger even changed the dish on the menu to suit my girlfriends taste. They had a nice selection of Hungarian wines to boot. And the deserts which you had to wait 15 mins before as they were made from Scratch were exquisite. The warmth and ambience in... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
