It is a little bit funny, maybe the modern architectures joke that, you never would thought you can find a so nice ballroom behind a modern meaningless book store. Maybe I'm not right about the meaningless, cause the book store has a wine store in the right side as you enter from the street. Wine and books? What? But ok,... More

Probably the most beautiful of Budapest's cafes, it started life as the ballroom of a casino built in 1884. The exterior of the building on Andrassy Street reflects its early twentieth-century art nouveau transformation (in 1911 it became the 'Paris Department Store'). But its original fantastically ornate neo-Renaissance ballroom - with its soaring ceilings, gilding and elaborate murals, painted by... More

It was nice to have coffee here. Just go trough the bookstore and you'll find it upstairs. The room is just great and the prices are fine as well. I recommend this one!

Very difficult to stop writing great things about this place. It is a very unassuming bookstore from the outside that envelops you in to a cafe which is more a palace than a bookshop! The coffee is excellent. Many cakes to choose from and they all taste great (visited twice). The prices are reasonable and the staff is very courteous... More

To start with the look of the whole building, the Great Parisian Department Store, opened in 1910, was the first significant department store building in Budapest. Its facade towards Andrássy Avenue was built in Art Nouveau style. During the communist era the place was on a downhill and unfortunately it was reconstructed to be a bookstore around 2007, but at... This was a great stop on a raining day, for a cup of mulled wine or hot tea. The coffee and pastries are excellent, but limited vegan options. Late afternoon there is live music by a beautiful piano, but the ambient music was very pleasant. On the weekends you may have to wait for a table, but the book store... More

This cafe is held in Paris Department Store, which includes a bookstore and wineshop. The decor is gorgeous, it has a timeless elegance and is very relaxing. The cocktails were good and tea was perfect. All topped off by the background music of the pianist there. Was so much better than my experience of New York cafe in Boscolo hotel.... More

The 4 stars are for the fresco above your table which is a knockout and which must be from the 19C . i only wish I had a camera to show you. The service is - well absent( giving you more time to look at ceiling) . Remarkably this fabulous room is the second floor of an ordinary, large, modern... More

this lovely cafe is located within a book shop on Andrassy Ut and has very reasonable prices. There was a piano player while we visited which added to the atmosphere. Our drinks and cake were very nice(we had a voucher for free tea or coffee) Our vouchers were excepted graciously by the staff. I preferred this cafe to the New... More
