Its a lovely cafe, much cheaper than Starbucks and vastly better. A huge selection of cakes. Wonderful.l

The food was just a bit above average and the service a little slow when we were waiting for our bill ... but oh, the room! This place is so unexpected! It was fun to watch people walk in as everyone's jaws literally drop open. The bookstore you pass through to get here has a great English section (on the... More

This place is a little hard to find - it's on the second level above a bookshop so just head right in even if it looks more like a shopping mall when you find the right number! It's a very lovely place to have tea and cakes, classy and well-preserved.

It is a little bit funny, maybe the modern architectures joke that, you never would thought you can find a so nice ballroom behind a modern meaningless book store. Maybe I'm not right about the meaningless, cause the book store has a wine store in the right side as you enter from the street. Wine and books? What? But ok,... More

Probably the most beautiful of Budapest's cafes, it started life as the ballroom of a casino built in 1884. The exterior of the building on Andrassy Street reflects its early twentieth-century art nouveau transformation (in 1911 it became the 'Paris Department Store'). But its original fantastically ornate neo-Renaissance ballroom - with its soaring ceilings, gilding and elaborate murals, painted by... More

It was nice to have coffee here. Just go trough the bookstore and you'll find it upstairs. The room is just great and the prices are fine as well. I recommend this one!

Very difficult to stop writing great things about this place. It is a very unassuming bookstore from the outside that envelops you in to a cafe which is more a palace than a bookshop! The coffee is excellent. Many cakes to choose from and they all taste great (visited twice). The prices are reasonable and the staff is very courteous... More

To start with the look of the whole building, the Great Parisian Department Store, opened in 1910, was the first significant department store building in Budapest. Its facade towards Andrássy Avenue was built in Art Nouveau style. During the communist era the place was on a downhill and unfortunately it was reconstructed to be a bookstore around 2007, but at... This was a great stop on a raining day, for a cup of mulled wine or hot tea. The coffee and pastries are excellent, but limited vegan options. Late afternoon there is live music by a beautiful piano, but the ambient music was very pleasant. On the weekends you may have to wait for a table, but the book store... More
