Good food .... sharp practice?

We were there at lunchtime, and it looks as if evening and indoor meals, with live music, have caused the most dissatisfaction. For lunch, we found the location near perfect - outside under shady awning, only 100 metres or so from the Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion. The service was... read more

Standard Hungarian fare, not too bad but prepared and presented without much visible love. For the same place there are most certainly better places on castle hill.

This restaurant is also known as the Black Raven. It's tucked away in a quiet street opposite the Mattias church in the castle district. The menu and food were genuinely Hungarian, the inside very relaxed and casual though the waiters were attentive and helpful. Portions were huge. While we were there we were serenaded by a three-piece string band. I... More

Close to the St. Mathias church and a good place to sit outside and have a drink after sightseeing in Buda. Varied menu, but just as welcome to have a coffee. Pleasant staff and occasionally a musician plays the accordion.

We had a great dinner as a party of 8 persons and did not feel any of the downsides mentioned in other comments regarding the staff or the food. We did however have two native hungarians with us and that may have stopped any tries for putting extra stuff on the bill! The food was good and the plates where... More

The food was pretty good, but like most restaurants in Budapest they added a service charge, but here they stamped the bill with a rubber stamp so we could not see that it said service charge and the waiter tried to convince us that the added amount was tax and that service was not included - when we asked him... We ate here in May of 2013 after a Viking Cruise. I'm just finishing our "memory book" and found in my notes that this was the #1 restaurant of our 3 week trip. I can't say I remember what I ate but it must have been good. I do remember the 3 piece Gypsie band and that they entertained us... More

I don't know why people don't love this place. There is nothing I can complain about! The food was glorious, the live music was great. It is with every penny. Yes it was a little pricey, but we shall be back for sure.
