We ate here in May of 2013 after a Viking Cruise. I'm just finishing our "memory book" and found in my notes that this was the #1 restaurant of our 3 week trip. I can't say I remember what I ate but it must have been good. I do remember the 3 piece Gypsie band and that they entertained us... read more

I don't know why people don't love this place. There is nothing I can complain about! The food was glorious, the live music was great. It is with every penny. Yes it was a little pricey, but we shall be back for sure.

We had lunch here and our meals were just okay. I wouldn't say there's a reason to make a special trip. There are much better restaurants. That said, our lunch will be one we'll always remember fondly. And that's because of the gypsy trio with the terrific violinist. And yes, he hawked his CD, which my wife bought. But it's... More

This was day one in Budapest. We did not plan on going to the castle area 1st, but it was a sunny day (the only one expected) So we wanted to see the views. We were starving, and knew we were making a mistake eating here in the tourist district. But we both were crabby and needed to eat. The... More

We arrived late in Budapest and just went to the first restaurant we could find close to our hotel. Big mistake! I had chicken which was rubbery and clearly not fresh. However the worst thing was being conned into buying the 2 live musicians a drink. We tried to tip them but they refused, asking us to buy them a... More

there was nobody to sit us outside, although we have waited for some time, therefore we sat at one of the tables - since the restaurant was nearly empty anyway. once the lady arrived we are asked to change the table (2 ppl) to a smaller one. this kind of profit and not client-service oriented behavior combined with the very... Dear Sir,Madam! The lady who wanted to serve you, was me. I appologize that you had to wait, but I had a discussion with one of our partners inside the restaurant, what you could not see, but as I recognised that you are outside I went there to make you sit. Although noone has actually sat on our terrace when... More

Tasty food, good portion sizes and pleasant service made for an enjoyable lunch. We would recommend either the goose leg or the beef wrapped in bacon. Had a lovely bottle of Hungarian Sauvignon blanc too. Felt good value for the area it is in and a lovely location in the castle district.

We went there for some drinks and refresh. They are kind but they charged us € 10.5 for a lemonade that might cost them € 0.50..., this is crazy!

If you've been in business for 500 years you are doing something right. I have eaten here several times. In 2011, 2012, and twice whenin Budapest in 2013. The ragout soup is always my first choice. I can taste the fresh tarragon in it now as I remember it. A great starter. I think I order the Transylvanian Plate usually,... More

The food is so so.... But they have musicians who wring out a money (not exactly money but push you to pay for drinks for them that cost half of your dinner). Do not go there if you would like to keep good emotions about Budapest.
