Not too long but very tasty menu, wide range of cool drinks for hot weather, fast and polite service, no problem with English (especially important in Hungary :)). At the same time prices are more than reasonable.

Spotted this coffee house in Buda en route from the Gellert hotel. A lovely place to relax and soak up the atmosphere of pre war years in Budapest. It may need a few extra touches here and there but a wonderful place to people watch and unwind for a while

This coffeehouse is nowhere near as glamorous as it used to be in its heyday, but it is easily one of the best in Budapest. It is quintessentially Hungarian, it lives and breathes milieu of the intellectual exchanges of pre-war times and the atmosphere is unparalleled. It does not suffer from the commercialisation of the Central Coffeehouse and the New... More

Famous during the interwar years for its literary circles, Hadik has been restored, if not to its original glory, but at least a pleasant, old-fashioned café serving excellent food. The interior has a warm, friendly ambience, while sitting outside in the warmer months offers a great place for people-watching and relaxation - something in short supply in Budapest. The menu... Located a bit off the tourist path, but not much is Hadik. It is located on Gardonyi Square (ter) along Bela Bartok Blvd a few blocks from the Gellert. It dates to 1910 and has a charming interior along with outdoor seating in the picturesque Gardonyi Sq. I loved the interior, traditional and some really nice stuffed chairs to sit... More

The interior is amazing, this place has so much potential. There are mostly local people going here, the service is quite ok and the prices are good. However, it happened that I got my coffee lukewarm and the hot chocolate was not that chocolate-ish. I am quite picky when it comes to coffee and hot chocolate. What I can really... More

The red wine served was chilled. The argument of the waiter was that during the summer they had to put the red wine into the wine-ref, so they put all red wines next to the white wines. When I complained, they felt hurt. When we left the restaurant, we were charged by the red wine we tasted but did not... More

No comparison to New York Café, Central Café or Gerbeaud - but therefor very nice atmosphere, no tourists, friendly service - good value for money. Excellent location in summertime, very nice terrace. Although called a café, it's also good for lunch or dinner.

I liked Hadik. If you're looking for a grand and amazing interior, Hadik wouldn't be my first or second or even third recommendation (try Bookcafe, or New York Kávéház for that), but as a cafe with nice, old-style decor it was great. In my visit staff didn't speak much English, but it wasn't a problem as the menu was in... More
