The Astoria Hotel opened 100 years ago in 1914 just before the start of the First World War. When it opened it was the epitome of Austro-Hungarian splendour and, unlike many similar high-end hotels in capital cities across the world, the public rooms of this hotel have remained virtually untouched by time [having been preserved rather than renovated]. That makes... More

Having time to spare before heading for the airport we were looking for somewhere for a late lunch and came across the Mirror Cafe at the Astoria Hotel. Unlike other restaurants in the area on a Monday lunchtime there was a few people eating in the restaurant. Thus we decided to give it a try. As others have said the... More

this restaurant was in our hotel. we ate there the first night we arrived late from the states, had a light meal. Waiter suggested a wine different than what I had picked and he was right. Pouring the last night so we ate here again, another wonderful meal

they spoiled me. The service was grate, the place is still old Europe, with the ambiance. If you wish to be in the old fashion service and atmosphere, this is a must see and must go to...place.

The Mirror restaurant is part of the Hotel Danubius Astoria and is a delightful way to enjoy a dinner. We had several meals here and each one was well prepared and delicious. There was no overuse of local ingredients or salt that has spoiled our meals at other venues. The red marble decoration and mirror trim in the restaurant is... More

we had dinner in the Mirror Cafe on our last night in Budapest and thoroughly enjoyed it - good service, good food in a restaurant full of character ..... a bit dearer than some other restaurants but worth it - we both had Goulash Soup to start and pork medallions for our main course.......

Mirror Cafe is inside the Danubius Astoria. Old world charm abound with superb staff and lovely musicians in the evening. Had dinner twice during at this restaurant (superb) and had drinks each evening there. Don't miss an opportunity to dine or at least stop in for a drink

After a nice stay in Danubius Hotel Astoria and Budapest, I wanted to have something classical tasty. The menu of The Mirror Restaurant looked like it, and it fulfilled my wishes completely. The duck-liver was heavenly (pardon the expression). So was the pork tenderloin and the two desertsI had. Can also recommend the apricot brandy palinka as digestiv (or the... More

If you are staying at the Danubius Astoria it is worth having at least one dinner in its opulent Mirrors restaurant. Authentic Austro-Hungarian feel to both the decor and the food. Very reasonable prices, helped further by a 15% discount for hotel users. Limited but decent wine list. All round comfort with an old-world emphasis.

The food is good, the staff are good, and the band are good, what more do you what? Nothing to dislike at all.
