Description: The city's newest wine bistro features superb food with an unusual twist, exciting interior and an amazing view onto the river Danube and the Chain Bridge. ZONA’s chef is Krisztián Huszár (Chef Of The Year 2011), who brings Eastern and Basque flavors into modern Hungarian tastes. Brigitta Balatoni (Pastry Chef Of The Year 2012), prepares the desserts. The wines also receive a big emphasis in the bistro, which gives real specialty to the venue.

They say it's a wine bistro but never mind the drinks – come here to try an entirely different world of tastes, textures and a sense of humour you would only find in the best restaurants of the world. Zona challenges people’s perceptions: its dishes (yup, they aren't too big, but the intensity of the flavor makes up for the... More

This restaurant is located close to the bottom of the funicular railway. We had one lunch and one dinner there during our stay in Budapest. The menu is quite short and imaginative. The food is of a very high quality and beautifully presented. The staff are very knowledgable about their product including their large choice of wines. It has a... More

Fantastic food in one of the best restaurants in Hungary from the best chef and an excellent pastry chef. Hungarian and Asian influenced tapas and great wines in a good location. Expensive, but well wort it. Well priced lunch menu, if you want a to pay less but still enjoy the experience.

I took a battered fish dish on a potatoe sauce with mushrooms then followed up with potatoe noodle + ice-cream dessert. To be blunt, the fish could have been from a Tesco packet - the potatoe was well presented but was salty but little else. Nice mushrooms and garnish. The desert was a great idea but the dusting with some... More

Excellent goatling and hungarian dry sparkling wine. Very friendly staff and lovely surprises from the kitchen. Quite pricy, but worth every forint.

Really fresh well prepared fusion of really high quality foods. Eco thoughtful. Carefully presented. Charming service.... Ideal for those who want a great good tasteful meal. Not ideal for those who just want to fill themselves with mounds of too much food but they can go to Trofea or MacDonalds.

We visited ZONA with friends on Saturday night for a drink following a dinner. The wine list was very nicely selected, the service perfect, the overall setting and location perfect. Cannot find a more cool place on a saturday evening to have a drink with such an ambiance and location (well maybe the Four Seasons Gresham on the opposite side... More

Place was recommend by a TA friend on the Budapest forum. Stopped in with colleagues for an early evening snack and drink well before dinner time and glad we did. While most may classify this restaurant as a tapas place it is not its style and feel is much more of a pinxtos/pinchos bar you may find in the Basque... More

Zona is by far the number one high cuisine restaurant in Hungary. The chef is highly skilled, versatile and creative, taking extreme care of the quality of its ingredients and delivering the most creative dishes one can find in Budapest. This is a place to eat beautifully! The service is equally great.

Excellent food. Finally a place where the chef has thought about all the small wiff in the food. Expect small portions, but in a quality and genuinity second to few in town. Great service and a nice ambience!
