Cuisines: Ice Cream
Dining options: Breakfast/Brunch, Late Night
Description: Located in the center of Budapest (Basilica), Gelarto Rosa is THE BEST ice cream in this town! Owner, the charismatic Niki Szokron studied the secrets of old Italian family recipes straight from the source in Italy and brought it back to her city. The philosophy behind it: fresh and true quality ingredients, old Italian traditions, modern technic and as final touch, add artistic creativity. The pretty ice cream girls at Niki's shop "create" each and every portion or cone as a unique artwork using ice cream as art material. It's simply amazing! Don't miss Peti (the barista) great Italian style coffee, and have real French macaroon from Juliette McAron.

If you want delicious gelato that is scooped out like a flower - this is your place. The ice cream is superb. While you may want to admire the petals of gelato, better eat it before it starts melting all over your fingers. They offer hot fudge in the bottom of the cone for a little more money. Some happy... Heaven is for real when you try this amazing 'home-made' gelato...oh and the shape is funny too! Go with the lavenda flavour if you're into trying something new.

Unique and very enjoyable experience. Surprising tastes: basil with lime, chocolate with chili. Not so expensive.

Delicios ice, special design, nice service, good location. Of course the design comes at a price (my impression is that the portions are smaller than usual), but it is not something I would consider negative, overall it's not overpriced. If you are there, give it a try!

I've since been back to Budapest and this was the first place I wanted to go for my gelato. Nothing has compared, even since being in Italy. I dream about the Salted Caramel Panna Cotta flavour!

A word of warning: my daughter really likes ice cream so we took her to the best ice cream place in Budapest (dixit Tripadvisor). And then we just had to go back and back and .... well, we've been 5 times and counting ... *sigh* :)

We made our way to Gelarto Rosa after reading the ice cream reviews on Tripadvisor. We weren't sure we'd found the right place until we saw the rose-shaped ice creams in their cones. Also, it was by far, the busiest gelato shop in the street, so we figured we'd found the right one. I tried white chocolate with lavender and... More

Prior to my trip to Budapest in June I'd read about Gelarto Rosa on Tripadvisor, although I had actually passed by it on my previous trip to Budapest last October. Three reasons I didn't try it last October I guess; the weather was a little cold and not really ice cream weather, we have an ice cream shop at home... More

This was a lovely stop from sightseeing, we got the largest size and had 4 flavours of gelarto put in a cone and enjoyed some people watching. The queue got mental after we went there - obviously a popular spot! There were some interesting flavours (Violet, chili, basil) but they weren't all that strong. Worth a visit but not life-changing!!
