Nothing much

This place has absolutely nothing special, it's quite dusty. Too much local flavour, average dishes and poor plating. Our waiter was not very friendly. Would not go there again and not recommend it to others.

This is a La Fiesta Restaurant in Buda. The Ratatouille with polenta was excellent as well as the service. Old world charm with barrel ceilings and beams

It was indeed difficult to find, and serves local food to local people at local prices. Tourists do visit, if they can find it, and it is clean but basic. The traditional Hungarian food was exceptional in quantity and quality. It was among the cheapest restaurants we visited in Budapest and gives a very good introduction to Hungarian cuisine which... The passage just off Fortuna Utca has 3 places to eat and drink and I think that some reviewers have mixed them up. The workers cafe which is on the left going up the stairs is Excellent as Lesley P has said. I cannot comment on the restaurant which is first on the left as we didn't visit. However we... More

It's not easy to find ...at the church end of Fortuna Utca is a 'proper' sit-down restaurant, but if you walk under the arch, past their door into an unsigned door and go up to the first floor, you will find a very large self service cafeteria - definitely for locals! Grab a tray and go to the servery; there... More

We sheltered from the rain storm as we were doing a scooter your of the city (highly recommend that!). The waiter snapped his fingers at us when he wanted us to move table, didn't give all if us a menu (there were only 3 of us) and at the end barked the price at me, not presenting the bill. And... We wore on our scooter tour around Budapest. It was about to rain so we went to nearest restaurant to eat something. At the start waiter asked in grumpy voice “how many”. I didn’t get offended with that because it already happened to me, with servers who don’t speak very good English. This don indicate that service will be bad.... More

We had dinner here as it was right across the street from the Hilton Budapest. There were few people on the street that Saturday night – and even fewer in the restaurant. I remembered that Europeans eat dinner late and I thought we were just getting there before the crowds. I guess things are ‘not so European’ in Budapest since... More

This restaurant has a fabulous service. The waiters there were like royal butlers - very professional.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
