Nice lunch spot

Located near the castle district but away from the hustle and bustle of tour groups this place has a great location. Came here for lunch and we were the only ones there. Ordered the chicken paprishka and goulash and both were amazing. The only small complaint was that because it wasn't busy the... read more

Very good food and dessert. We had Goulash and Wiener Schnitzel which were excellent. We did have both dishes elsewhere and still did not top this. As for dessert, we tried the '21s sponge cake' which was very good too. Service was very good and efficient. The restaurant like all others, charges 13% service charge on top of the bill... More

We were planning to have lunch at Csalogany 26, but coulnd't find it, so, we went back to the castle quite famished to eat at Magyar Vandeglo. The restaurant is nice, but the food was quite bad if you are a picky eater like us. My husband went for a crispy duck leg, which was nice, but not exciting, while... More

The goulash here is fantastic. We all loved it. My son kept going back for seconds and thirds etc. we ordered two large portions for two adults and a seven year old. It was perfect.we then shared a cheese platter and two deserts. All very good . Service was good and they were very accommodating. We moved from outside to... More

In the castle district on a quiet street not far from the Matthias Church. A bit expensive, but the food is served very elegantly, and it is very tasty.

The food and service is wonderful. Get a table outside if the weather is good. This place offers Hungarian cuisine which is not heavy. Reservation recommended.

Located on Buda part, near the Castel on the cosy street of Fisherman Bastion. Very friendly staff, fast service, hungarian food and cosy atmosphere. We tried traditional hungarian food and it was really good.

Situated in Castle district of Budapest fairly close to Hilton hotel. Indoor and outdoor tables available Staff very friendly and helpful. Rather limited choice of beers. I had chicken paprika with noodles. The dish was a bit cold and the noodles were a bit more like gnocchi and not particularly tasty. Husband had beef goulash soup which was delicious. Nice... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
