Great breakfast

Excellent breakfast in this cafe, one of the few places I would recommend in this tourist bait street.

We had one of the nicest breakfast in this lovely square, served by the Cafe Alibi. The Magyaros rantotta (scrambled eggs) was genuinely quite delicious. Four of us had a really happy time here for just 7,280 HUF (approx £18). Hunt it out, you will not be disappointed, I promise.

That is how it is written on our receipt. It was a very prettily presented hamburger and tasted great. We had been missing this dish on our trip as we were trying out so many new things. So a taste from home which we thoroughly enjoyed. Also a very good price in comparison to other places in Europe.

It's called a "cafe" but really it's a restaurant, with extra emphasis on coffee. We came in a larger group for dinner on a weekday - the place was mostly empty, which is probably due to their slightly upscale prices. I had a roast salmon with cooked vegetables and was very satisfied with it. Colleagues likewise with the variety of... More

Cafe Alibi used to be my favorite cafe anytime of the day, but recently (last year or so) nearly every time I've gone in, especially when the owner is not there, the staff just couldn't care less. Either it's that they are not being paid well, the tips are included in the bill or the owner just doesn't care anymore... More

We're breakfast lovers and it's not always easy to find breakfast/brunch when you're abroad. This place has a decent selection of breakfast options, decent prices and great coffee drinks. The service was also very good and everyone spoke English. The location is also very handy for stopping en route to see other Budapest sites.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
