Great lunch, good value

My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch on our BnB's recommendation. It has a great relaxed old world interior with interesting posters on the wall. We had an absolutely lovely waiter who was attentive without being intrusive. I had the duck ragu which was delicious and a good portion size @HUF... read more

Had a really nice breakfast which was fantastic value for money. It was not big but everything was fresh and really high quality around 2300 HUF per person (fresh orange juice, nice coffee latte, nice scrambled eggs and freshly baked croissant plus some baguette). Would recommend and go again

We decided taking breakfast at Alibi because not too many cafés in the area were open at 8:00 AM and its website appeared inviting. The place is indeed nice and cosy. We ordered the Extra Alibi Breakfast for two persons, as it promised to be mouth-watering and filling: croissants, baguette, boiled eggs, salami, fried sausages, mozzarella and salad, orange juice,... This was simply one of the best cafe experiences I have ever had. Extremely beautiful cafe setting with wonderful coffee and delightful cake to enjoy. Fantastic service, will definitely visit again - Budapest's unsung gem!

The inside is a tally even better than the outside terrace. Lovely staff and great food for reasonable prices.

The restaurant is nice but not uppity, the service is friendly, and the breakfast plates are so good. Being Americans living in Budapest, my wife and I are always looking for a good breakfast spot. The homemade jam, warm croissants, fresh mozarella, sausage, and ham--plus coffee, orange juice and champagne--provided us with a delicious and filling meal, and it worked,... More

We chose this place based on other reviews but we left disappointed. We felt (by the end of our Budapest stay) there are MUCH better dinner dining places for better value to be had. Perhaps for coffee and cake or breakfast it might be a different story. We were there mid-week and there were only a couple of other tables... More

Really enjoyed our meal here. Delicious beef and bean ragu. Excellent choice of coffees. We had live piano music whilst we ate.

Whilst not overly cheap, prices starting around £3.50 for a breakfast, the food was excellent quality and the staff lovely. The coffee was delicious and the location was easy to access and not far from the central supermarket. Overall, would definitely recommend for breakfast and I can only imagine the standards are just as high for every other meal.

Terrific staff, coffee, lunch, and dinner. After 4 visits, we were well known. All meals prepared here in this small "brown" bar and bistro. Very comfortable and wifi free.

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
