Given the service in Hungary, that's saying something. I live here in the center city. I love the cafe life, and frequent many of them to do my emails and other computer work. Alibi always seems like a good idea--lovely location, decent coffee, and so long as you don't eat (food is overpriced and mediocre), prices are OK. BUT---I always... More

Dear Customer! We are sorry for your bad experience. You are a regular, so you have to know, many people use our internet and are satisfied. On our terrace the signal is weeker, and that could have been reason for your bad wifi experience. Our service is not equivalent to our FREE wifi option. You are a customer, who is... More

Service in Hungary / Eastern Europe is generally not over friendly, which is completely acceptable as its just the culture. Sometimes I genuinely prefer it because it never feels like an act. That being said - the service at Cafe Alibi was absolutely TERRIBLE. We waited for an hour for our meal. While waiting, 3 other tables that came in... More

Me and my girlfriend had a great experience here in our first day in Budapest. So much that we went there every time we were in that zone. The area is very nice, specially if you get a spot on the esplanade, the prices are normal, the choice is good but the SERVICE is the BEST. We were treated like... More

We happened to be in Budapest during the Independence day celebrations and trying to find somewhere open for breakfast on a Sunday when the President is speaking to hoards of people around the corner is not easy! Cafe Alibi was a god-send! The coffee was delicious and the breakfast menu was very good; I had some sort of delicious egg,... More

We had one of the nicest breakfast in this lovely square, served by the Cafe Alibi. The Magyaros rantotta (scrambled eggs) was genuinely quite delicious. Four of us had a really happy time here for just 7,280 HUF (approx £18). Hunt it out, you will not be disappointed, I promise.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
